Lyle School District serves the residents of Lyle, Dallesport, Appleton, High Prairie, Timber Valley, Murdock and the surrounding areas. Lyle School District offers a K-12 educational system for approximately 240 students in our region. Formerly known as Klickitat Landing, Lyle hosted Lewis and Clark in 1805. In 1876, the first Post Office east of the Cascades and north of the Columbia River was established here to serve most of eastern Washington. Our school district enjoys the benefits of a smaller, more rural community setting. May perform any principal duty as assigned by the Superintendent/Principal. • Be responsible to the Superintendent/Principal for all organization, administration and supervision within his/her assigned areas of responsibility. Properly supervise classroom instruction and organization in grades K-12. • Conduct evaluations of certificated and classified staff of the school. Provide input to the evaluations of maintenance, operations and food service staff assigned to the school. • Help in developing and maintaining good public relations within the communities and for utilizing fully the community resources to enrich the learning program. • Assist in the planning, approval, supervision and conduct of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. • Assist with the following: »» Fire drills and other safety drills (in accordance with state requirements). »» Coordinating and providing for proper supervision of all activities in the building(s). »» Scheduling and conducting faculty meetings. »» Work with Title I, school improvement and i-grant applications online. »» Serve as the Superintendent/Principal’s designee with authority according to provisions of board policy and state statute. »» Supervising students. »» Preparing class schedules and student schedules. »» Confer with the Superintendent/Principal on a regular basis and perform such other duties as may be assigned. Preferred Education Knowledge, Skills and Experience: • Master’s degree required in Education, Business and/or Public Administration. • Must hold a Washington Principal’s endorsement. • Experience in working in a rural community with under-served populations. • Focus on educational progress for all students with understanding of Common Core, Teacher/Principal Evaluation and district’s chosen educational framework. • Demonstrated supervisory and labor relations skills • Ability to proactively engage and work with community and families. • Strong public presence and ability to maintain positive public relations. • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse board of directors. • Outgoing and approachable with strong communication skills, celebrated as a team player. Successful candidate should live in or be willing to relocate to the Lyle district or surrounding area.
