2015 ELKS RODEO QUEEN CONTEST KICKOFF!
Santa Maria, CA – April 3, 2015 – The 72nd Annual Elks Rodeo is just around the corner and the
festivities begin next Saturday, April 11, 2015 with the opening of the 2015 Elks Rodeo Queen
Contest at the Santa Maria Elks Lodge. The Rodeo Queen Kickoff Dinner and Auction marks the
official start of the 2015 Rodeo season and the first public introduction of the 2015 Queen
Contest Candidates. As one of the most beloved traditions associated with the Santa Maria Elks
Rodeo, the Queen Contest has raised and distributed over $10,500,000 to our local
communities since its inception.
Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. for no host cocktails. A traditional Santa Maria style meal prepared
by the Famous Elks Barbeque Team will be served at 6:00 p.m., followed by a live auction of
many unique items and opportunities. The event will also feature a silent auction, dessert
auction, and dancing to conclude the evening.
Tickets are just $30.00 and are available at the Elks Recreation, Inc. Office inside the Elks Lodge

About Santa Maria Elks Rodeo and Parade
The Elks Recreation Foundation was established in 1943 when it held its first fundraising event,
a dance at the Veteran’s Memorial Building. They used the funds raised from that event to
stage the first Elks Rodeo June 3-June 4, 1944. The initial two day event was preceded each day
by a mounted parade from the Vet’s Memorial Building to the Santa Maria Fairgrounds. The
first Rodeo netted Elks Recreation nearly $3000.00 that first year and a long history of
fundraising to support local youth sports and recreation was born. Since that time, Elks
Recreation, Inc. has raised and donated over $10,500,000 to the local community.
