Calabash Elks PRESS RELEASE Youth Programs Committee Benevolent and Protective Order of ELKs ~ Lodge 2679 937 Carter Drive, Calabash, NC 28467 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE By Michael Trescak “ELKS LODGE SENDS LOCAL TEENS TO PROM” A Night in Paris ~ in More Ways than One The motto of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (B.P.O.E.) is . . . “Elks Care ~ Elks Share,” and – this motto was exemplified recently when the Calabash Elks Lodge sponsored 2 young women from the Boys & Girls Home in Lake Waccamaw, NC, by sending them to the Flemington Academy’s Prom held on Friday evening, April 17, 2015. The theme of the Prom was “A Night in Paris.” The idea was the brainchild of Juanita Adams, an Officer of the Lodge and Chairperson of their Youth Programs Committee. Ms. Adams had asked the home to hold a “Good Citizens” competition (of sorts) and provide her with the names of the 2 top finalists, which just happened to be 2 young women. Then, Ms. Adams took both young ladies on an extensive shopping spree to Amanda’s Collection, Bridal & Formal Shoppe in Conway, SC, and had both of them custom-fitted for gowns – then added Shoes, - Bags, - Jewelry, and – topped it all off with lunch. The recent Friday evening was truly a “Night in Paris” for the 2 young ladies, - in more ways than one!
