Newsletter 2nd March 2015 - Elston Hall Primary School

SPRING TERM 2015
Issue 4 - Monday 2nd March 2015
Well done to our children!
The Celebration Day was a huge success! Our
children as always were exceptionally well behaved
and the experience was enjoyed by all!
Nursery Children will be involved in their celebrations
later in the month when they all visit the Snow
Dome in Tamworth!
Fundraising
This year to support Comic Relief,
we will be running a funny photo
booth.
Children can take a turn in the booth and get a
print out of their picture for a 50 pence donation.
Following last years successful collection, daffodil
pins in aid of Marie Curie will be on sale from next
week at a suggested donation of £1.
Families will also have received details of our charity
‘tins mountain’ to support our colleagues at the
Church of The Good Shepherd
Breakfast and After School Club
Breakfast and After School Club would welcome any
unwanted board games / toys (not cuddly toys)/
lego / jigsaws etc. You can pass any items to the
staff in club or to the office. Thank you!
The number for Club is 07437 598054. This number
will be answered during after school club hours only,
however you can leave voice messages or text at
any time!
Attendance
Last week’s attendance figure was 96.5%
Punctuality however has seen a slight
‘dip’ - a reminder the school doors close
at 8.55 am!

Reception & Year 1 a separate letter will explain this.
Monday 23rd March—Nursery Trip to Snow Dome
24th March at 3.30 pm—meeting for parents about
the new Curriculum in English, grammar, phonics
Term Dates
The end of Spring term is Friday 27 March.
The Summer term starts on Monday 13th April
The school will definitely be closed for Parliamentary
elections on 7th May.
We have recently involved our school in Internet
Safety Days and we have further work planned this
term with our colleagues in West Midlands Police
Force—aimed at keeping our children safe on line.
You are well aware of my personal views of
children using Facebook and other social media,
however I remain shocked at regular reports from
families and organisations that a number of our
children have illegal accounts but more worryingly
appear in videos giving details of their lives, where
they live and which school they attend. We trust our
work at school to clarify the dangers of social media
will meet with your support. KG
Reminders..
Year 6 Parents!
Revision guides for Maths and SPAG are now
available to purchase in school for £3 each. You
should have received a letter with details last Friday.
Trip Money
Please remember that trip money needs to be in an
envelope marked with your child’s name and class.
Hair
Please note that Governors request children’s hairstyles are modest and in line with our expectations in
terms of smart appearance. Hairstyles should avoid
tram lines / shaved hair patterns please.
Funky Feet
The Funky Feet dancers have been successful in
securing a place in an International Dance
Competition which will take place during the evening
of Monday 20th April—further details to follow to
those involved.
Spare Uniforms
Any spare boys / girls school socks (all ages) would
be greatly appreciated to add to our spare uniform
collection. Many Thanks
