PCI has been working in Liberia for the past Four years to increase access to food, reduce chronic
malnutrition, and increase access to improve livelihood and educational opportunities in Bong and Nimba
Counties, and providing Rapid Ebola Awareness Training (REACT), and Support to Ebola Treatment
Project (STEP) and support to the Community Care Center in Nimba and Bong Counties and implementing
an Emergency Food Security Program “Protect and Empower for Ebola Resilience” in Cape Mount and
Bomi Counties.
PCI has a new project “Protect and Empower for Ebola Resilience (PEER)” funded by USAID in the Grand
Cape Mount and Bomi counties. As part of the PEER, PCI will be targeting food insecure and other
vulnerable households especially those affected by Ebola in two counties. The project has three major
components: 1) Vouchers for agricultural inputs, including seeds and tools; 2) Unconditional Cash
Transfers (UTC) for the Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW) and children under two year households
and 3) Cash for Work (CFW) project intervention e.g. road rehabilitation and flood mitigation project.
Primary Responsibility of this Position
The Agriculture Coordinator will manage all Agriculture Input Voucher (AIV) activities in the field office
in designated area (Grand Cape Munt and Bomi) and he/she will provide technical supports and guideline
for implementing the AIV project to the project staff who are reportable to him/her and responsible for
project selection, project planning, project assets, monitoring and liaising with local government and
communities. Further he/she will support identification of unmet needs for the target beneficiaries in
coordination with team members. He/she will also ensure that project activities follow PCI programming
principles and approaches, draw on relevant best practices and lessons learned, improve the wellbeing of
the target communities, and are compliant with donor regulations.
Key Responsibilities / Tasks




Implementation of EFSP agriculture activities at the community level in the target communities of
Grand Cape Mount and Bomi counties.
Facilitate organization and formation of farmer groups and identification of lead farmers under the
project as per project outline.
Set up and conduct trials and demonstrations on HHs farms, conduct field days to demonstrate
trials on farms, and conduct displays and the target HHs stands at agricultural shows, field days
and other events.
Support producer farmer groups’ activities in conjunction with relevant Government agricultural
extension staff.









Strengthen the capacity of Lead farmers and farmer groups in all aspects, from production through
to post harvest.
Conduct crop assessments to support work plans for farmer groups
Disseminate new production technologies of crops, best farming practices, post-harvest storage,
handling and quality of seeds for the next crops.
Provide technical assistance to volunteer lead farmers including facilitating trainings to the target
groups in the selected communities of Grand Cape Mount and Bomi counties.
Liaise with Government extension staff in crop production and post-harvest handling carried out at
a community level.
Facilitate targeting, verification, and registration of beneficiaries farmer groups and lead farmers
for agriculture components of the project.
Document lessons learned and best practices concerning crop production and post-harvest
handling activities.
Participate together with other staff in regular planning, review, and coordination of project
activities.
Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor that are within the general scope of the
described responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
 Educational Qualification
Diploma or University degree in administration, engineering or other relevant technical credential

Years of Experience
2 – 3 years in the relevant fields

Skills and Competencies
Managerial – including program implementation & development, budget, monitoring and
supervisory and training skills
Good communication skills
Problem solving and negotiation skills
Computer literate
English proficiency in both speaking and writing
Desirable


Experience in the region.
Language skills in local countries (Grand Cape Munt and Bomi).
Qualification
All successful candidates must demonstrate an overriding commitment to work with local communities in
Cape Mount and Bomi Counties, possess up to 2-4 years of relevant work experience in the area he/she is
applying for. It is also required that you hold a minimum of Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree to work in any
of the area you are applying for.
