The purpose is to assist aboriginal women to escape the cycle of abuse by furthering their employment possibilities. This bursary will be awarded annually to any qualifying Aboriginal woman who needs assistance with books, supplies, tuition or transportation etc. to attend a course or workshop to advance her learning. Applicants must meet the following criteria: 1. Aboriginal female, minimum 16 years of age 2. Applicant must show proof of registration including name, address of institution 3. Applicant must complete the application form 4. Applicant must write a brief letter explaining her educational goals, and how the bursary will benefit her life 5. Applicant must provide name and contact information for one reference All applications will be reviewed by the REED board of directors and who will make the final decision. Applicant will be notified immediately after the decision is made at the regular monthly REED board meeting. The Board will determine that the amount of funds to be awarded and will forward a cheque to the educational institution when appropriate. Applications deadlines are twice a year: June 1 and September 31. Please give at least two months advance for funds to be processed.
