Professor Emeritus Colin Ramm was dean of the Faculty of Science from 1972–1983. With his family, Professor Ramm
made a donation in 1998 to establish the Muriel Ramm Science Bursary, in memory of his late wife. He and his family
have since made further donations to build the fund for this bursary and also for a prize in experimental physics. The
bursary is awarded to the candidate most likely to benefit academically from the additional funds. See

Selection Criteria and Process
Students enrolled in 2015 in the Faculty of Science entering the Bachelor of Science (Honours), the Advanced
Graduate Diploma in Science, or the first year of a Master of Science are eligible to apply, provided they are from
one of the following schools:
*BioSciences Chemistry Earth Sciences Ecosystem & Forest Sciences
Geography Mathematics & Statistics Physics
*On 1 January 2015, the School of Botany and the Departments of Zoology and Genetics will merge to become
the School of BioSciences in the Faculty of Science.
Applicants must be commencing their course in first semester 2015 or have commenced in second semester
2014.
Recipients of scholarships that include an allowance or other payment over and above the value of a fee-based
place from the University are not eligible to apply.
The bursary is awarded to the candidate most likely to benefit academically from the additional funds. The Muriel
Ramm Science Bursary committee will consider applications based on demonstrable financial need and academic
merit. Applicants must demonstrate they have made an effort to secure financial assistance to be considered in
genuine financial need.
