Gym Tots (9 mo-4 yrs) (parent-child)
Parents and toddlers play together
using equipment designed to challenge
a child’s imagination and gross motor
abilities.
Totnastics (2-3 yrs) (parent-child) A parent-led discovery of movement
in areas such as: rolling, tumbling,
balancing, and climbing…. this program
is an early introduction to gymnastics.
Kindernastics (4-5 yrs) Learn the
fundamentals of gymnastics such as
forward rolls, walking across balance
beam and jumping off the vault.
Classes are focused on challenging
children to explore and experience
movement in a fun and enriching
atmosphere.
Learn-to-Play Basketball (4-5 yrs)
Have fun on the court learning how
to dribble, run and shoot! Meet new
friends and develop your coordination
and motor skills.
Learn-to-Play Soccer (4-5 yrs) Great for
any young child curious about soccer
and looking to have fun and be active
with other children.
L’il Dippers (6mos-5 yrs) Children
6 months to 3 years old start in the
water with their parents learning basic
swimming skills. Children 4 to 5 years
old participate in a swimming class
with or without their parents. A variety
of levels are available.
Music & Movement (1-4 yrs) (parentchild) Using rhythm instruments,
ribbons and bouncing balls, young
children learn the basics of melody
and rhythm. This will be a fun time of
singing and musical activity.
Parents & Babies Cardio Time (0-6
mo) Parents make some time for
themselves in the Wellness Centre
while accompanied by their infant.
Children must be safely secured in an
infant car seat. Please note: requires
an adult or family membership.
Swim Tots (9mos-3 yrs) (parent-child)
Parents and toddlers jump, splash, kick,
blow bubbles and discover different
ways to move in the water using a
mix of buoyant objects. Let their
imagination swim with the fishes during
this interactive instructor-led program!
Literacy and Movement (1-4yrs)
(parent-child)
Children’s imagination will soar
listening to story and then re-creating
that story through arts n crafts and
developmentally appropriate games
and activities.
Gym & Swim (2-3 yrs) (4-5 yrs)
(parent-child) Gross motor themes in
the gym each week that provide an
opportunity for children to run, climb,
roll, hop, balance, crawl, kick, and
throw! The fun continues in the warm
pool with water skills development
through songs and games with their
parents. Instructor led.
Rhythmic Kids (4-5 yrs)
An upbeat mix of dance and exercise.
Shake it out to cool Latin music in a fun
class with your friends, learn some new
moves and feel great!

YMCA Youth Night has returned (12yrs +) Come try out any of these new opportunities – Free for members. Bring a
Friend $2 per night. The Youth Club will provide a safe space for our kids to
relax, read, play table tennis, listen to music, play chess, cards and chat to
each other. There will be various other opportunities around the building on
Friday and Saturday (see below) which the youngsters can go and try or even
sign up for the full program. Recreational swims will also be available at the
posted times.

Recreational Gymnastics (gds 1+)
Recreational gymnasts will learn a variety of skills on the floor, low and high beams, bars, vault, and
mini-trampoline, as they progress through the beginner, intermediate and advanced level classes
such as: dismounts, pullovers, handstands, rolls, leaps, supports, cartwheels, jumps and so much
more. Progress Reports will be provided at the end of each term and badges will be awarded at
the completion of each level.
YMCA Pre-Competitive Gymnastics Club (gds 1+)
A great opportunity to enhance your skills on floor, vault, beam and bars,
while working with highly qualified coaches.

Intro to Karate This program will
introduce students to the basics of
traditional Shotokan. *Please note

Teen Weight Trainer Club (gds 8-12)
Learn the basic components of fitness
and gain knowledge on how to safely
use strength training equipment in
the Wellness Centre as taught by our
knowledgeable Wellness Centre staff.
Karate for Kids/Adults and Families
(gds 1+) Learn about traditional
Shotokan Karate while improving your
concentration, discipline, respect,
control, physical fitness, self-esteem
and confidence. Pre-req: Intro to Karate
(yellow belt). *Please note an additional
program fee of $30 is required to offset
costs associated with this program.
Youth Badminton Instruction (gds 3+)
Learn about physical fitness, rules of the
game, singles/doubles games and basic/
technical skills. Develop your grip, ready
position, footwork, high/low serves,
drop shots, smashes, singles/doubles
strategies and placement of the shuttle.
*All Karate students must have a Karate
uniform. Uniforms can be purchased
through head karate instructor Steve
Turgeon.
Middle School Strength and
Conditioning Club (gds 6-8) A class
designed for kids looking to increase
their fitness level while teaching them
in a fun and effective manner. A certified
personal trainer will teach a wellrounded routine focusing on increasing
muscular strength, cardio, hand/eye
coordination and flexibility. Great for
growing athletes!
Youth Indoor Rowing (gds 5-11) Y-Row
is led by qualified coaches. The Y is
offering its members the opportunity
to learn the sport of rowing. Sessions
will include technique, games and
competition, all working to improve
your fitness level.

Volleyball Instruction (gds 3-5) Learn
the basic skills of volleyball through
skills and drills in a fun, relaxed
atmosphere.
Indoor Youth Rugby (gds 4-10) Boys
and girls will have the chance to learn
“flag rugby” and “touch rugby” under
the guidance of local coaches from the
Loyalists Rugby Club.
Junior Squash (Beginner grades 3+)
(Int/Adv grades 6+)
Learn the basic skills of squash that
develops agility, hand-eye coordination
and mental focus.
Rhythmic Kids (gds 1+)

Beginner Basketball (gds K-3)
This program is designed for youth
who want to learn fundamental skills.
Designed for those graduating from the
learn to play program, but not ready for
the spring league program.
Indoor Cricket (gds 1-8) Fun and
inclusive cricket session designed to
improve fundamental skills such as
throwing, catching, hitting and playing
as team. Delivered by qualified coaches
from Cricket New Brunswick.

Please note: Spring League is designed for athletes who have experience playing basketball therefore there is a minimum requirement of;
one term of playing rec basketball, one season of playing middle school basketball, or experience as a competitive player.

AFTER SCHOOL YOUTH PROGRAM
The YMCA of Fredericton provides quality, affordable Child Care in 14 YMCA After School Program
sites across Fredericton. Kindergarten to Grades 5/6 students are guaranteed a safe after school
environment with a variety of fun actives, including: daily physical activity & outdoor play, art,
literacy, math, science, guest speakers and fieldtrips. The YMCA operates 20 hours/week, plus
school closure days from 7:30am – 5:30pm, September to June, with placement determined by

1+) These 11 levels take swimmers
from introductory movement to initial,
intermediate and advanced stroke
standards. Advanced swimmers learn
alternate aquatics skills in synchro, water
polo and basic lifesaving skills.
Intro to Competitive Swimming (gds
1+) Step it up a notch! This program
focuses on speed and endurance! A great
introduction to competitive swimming
with a focus on FUN! Open to youth able
to swim 25m or more non-stop without
assistance.
Private Lessons Perfect a stroke or learn
to swim for the first time. Private lessons
cater to your needs. Prices for one-onone instruction are $220 for 11x30-mins
sessions booked through our Welcome

includes a series of strength and aerobic
exercises set up in water stations in both
the lap and therapy pools.
Adult Drop-In Swim Lessons For those

stroke correction tips.
Aqua-Fit The high resistance of water
and available equipment offers an
excellent workout while minimizing
impact on joints. Ideal for beginners,
those with advanced fitness levels
and older adults. Swimming skills not

Lap Swim Increase your endurance and

Lanes are divided by speed.
Aquatic Stretch Physical conditioning in
