Media Minds aims to empower newcomers to Canada by equipping them with videography
skills while helping to improve their communication skills. Media Minds is structured as a
workshop series through which the youth we work with learn how to storyboard, film and
edit their own creations. The workshops present an opportunity for the youth to share ideas,
work in teams and overcome language barriers in a supportive environment. With informational presentations and the guidance of student mentors, our participants put
pen to paper and storyboard an idea of their own. Next, the students are grouped together to
film and to bring their storyboards to life. The workshop series wraps up with the editing of
the creations. Following this, the students organize an event to showcase their films. Please contact Ben Hwang at [email protected]
