GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. signed a service agreement involving collection of pipes
and fixtures for investment tasks implemented by the company
On 14 May 2015, Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. signed a service
agreement with Bureau Veritas Polska for collection of pipes and fixtures, including
drivers, for investment tasks implemented by the company, in particular within the
framework of the North-South Gas Corridor.
Bureau Veritas Polska sp. z o.o. was selected as a result of public procurement
proceedings.
Under the agreement, the Contractor undertook to render services to GAZ-SYSTEM
S.A. involving control activities and preparatory activities necessary for the purpose
of collection of ordered pipes and fixtures with drivers. The main tasks of Bureau
Veritas Polska, as an Inspection Unit, will include but will not be limited to:
1. testing of technical capacity of producers
2. verification of qualifications and competence of producers’ staff
3. monitoring of the process of manufacture and testing of pipes and fixtures at
the production plant
4. verification of quantity and quality of pipes and fixtures at the place of
delivery.
A total value which GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. intends to allocate for the implementation of
the agreement shall not exceed the amount of approx. PLN 19 million net. The term
of the agreement with Bureau Veritas Polska will be 5 years.
GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. plans to build a total of approx. 2000 km of new pipelines in
western, southern and eastern parts of Poland in 2015-2023.
In view of the scope of the investment work, the company decided to apply the
optimum method of implementation of investment projects, consisting of, among
other things, purchase of materials for construction of pipelines (pipes and fixtures)
directly from producers. At the end of April of the current year, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.

completed public procurement proceedings for delivery of pipes with the diameter
of 700 and 1000 mm to implement strategic transmission pipelines and signed
framework agreements with 10 contractors which will execute specific orders on the
basis of separate partial agreements concluded each time after the acceptance of
the best offer.
This method of project implementation provides for significant acceleration of
investment work and improvement of costs efficiency.
“GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. specified the quality parameters concerning pipes, and then
conducted procurement proceedings and signed framework agreements with a
few suppliers in Poland and Europe which guaranteed their readiness to deliver an
appropriate amount of pipes to a designated place. To ensure the required quality
of investor’s deliveries, an external company was also engaged which will monitor
the production process in factories as well as the logistics and method of storage of
purchased materials,” stated Jakub Stypuła, Director of the Investment Section of
GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.

Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is a company of strategic importance for the Polish
economy, responsible for the transmission of natural gas and the management of the main transmission
grid in Poland. Between 2009 and 2015, GAZ-SYSTEM SA implemented an investment plan covering the
construction of more than 1,200 km of new gas transmission pipelines. The most significant projects of
this kind were completed in north-west and central Poland. The expansion of the gas pipeline network is
seen as a major step in the development of the North-South Gas Corridor integrating the natural gas
markets in Central Europe. The projects closed by GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. and the virtual reverse flow services
for the Yamal pipeline have led to a significant improvement of Poland’s energy security by enhancing
the technical import capabilities from directions other than the east of up to 90% of performed imports
(before 2011 it was 9%).
