INTRODUCTION
The hostel in ETCM campus was set up to meet the accommodation
demand of students from different states & areas of the country for qualities
of education and training throughout their course of study by providing a
clean, safe and healthy environment for all residents.
The ETCM hostel experience and enables the youngsters to encounter with
many people whose backgrounds & cultures are different and diverse.It
promotes the development of self confidence and skills that ultimately
enable the students to raise and achieve their own aspirations in nursing
profession.
Students in the hostel shall have harmonious relationship with each other,
superiors and hostel workers. All shall ensure safe, healthy and happy stay
without any disturbance.
CAMPUS AND ATMOSPHERE
The girls hostel is housed within the main school campus. The two storied
building provides accommodation to 200 girls. The boys hostel across the
road is housed in our Own Methodist Mission compound. The rooms are
airy and specious.
HOSTEL MANAGEMENT
1. The following officers constitute the hostel management.
a. Principal
b. Warden (Boys / Girls)
2. The students should approach any of the above officers for help
guidance and grievance redress.
3. Representations to higher authorities must be forwarded through
proper channel

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION TO THE HOSTEL
The applicant;
1.
Should be a bonafide student of the institution
2.
Must be willing to obey all the rules and regulations of the hostel as
prescribed from time to time
3.
If parents are not resident in or close to Kolar a guardian should be
nominated for emergency contact.
4.
Application for admission to the hostel should be made in the
prescribed form, which can be obtained from the college office on
payment of Rs. 150/-
5.
A responsible person parent / guardian who will comply with the
formalities and procedures for admission must accompany the
candidate.
6.
No student will be allowed to stay in the hostel without formal
admission.
7.
Every student before admission to the hostel must give an undertaking
in writing that he/she abide by the parent / guardian also in the attached
declaration form.
DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED
(At the time of hostel admission)

Two passport size photo(s) of the student.

Correspondence address of parents, Local Guardians and two contact
telephone numbers

Photocopy of the hostel admission fees receipt

ROOM ALLOTMENT:
1.
Allotment of rooms may not necessarily be one’s choice. It is at the
sole discretion of the administration, which may allot the rooms either
on first come first serve basis or any other basis, say academic
background etc.
2.
Sharing accommodation will be provided to the students with separate
cupboard, cot, chair and table; other requirements shall be brought by
the students. Any inconvenience / requirement shall be reported to the
warden.
3.
Management intentionally places students of varying academic,
cultural, social, national background together so that cross cultural,
social and rational learning is achieved. Students are expected to give
full respect and equal right to their roommates, irrespective of their
varying backgrounds.
4.
Students must occupy the room allotted to them and should not
exchange without the knowledge of the concerned warden.
5.
The warden without assigning any reason may shift inmates from one
room to another.
BEHAVIOUR AND DISCIPLINE
1.
Hostelites are expected to display acceptable form of behavior,
maintain discipline and decorum in the hostel complex.
2.
All students are expected to be in the hostel immediately after the
classes / clinicals and they are not allowed to go to others rooms. If
any student wish to be away from the hostel during the weekend,
holidays or any other time he / she must take prior permission from the
concerned authority.
3.
Students shall strictly report to the hostel within the allotted time.
Students not returning within the time allotted or reported /returned
late will be considered as misconduct and viewed seriously

Students should cooperate in carrying out maintenance work and
vacate their rooms completely when the hostel management requires
the rooms for this purpose.
All the residents should sign the completed inventory form of their
room.
In case of damage to or loss of hostel property the cost will be
recovered from the students responsible, if identified or from all the
students of the hostel as decided by the hostel management.
Pasting of posters, writings, wall chalking slogans of any kind or
defacing the hostel in any form is not allowed
The residents shall not move any furniture / fittings from its proper
allotted place.
Smoking, use of tobacco, gutka, panmasala, alcohol and drugs etc. will
not be permitted in the entire campus. Any student violating these
norms will be referred to the disciplinary committee for necessary
action
All the students are expected to be properly dressed before moving out
from the hostel premises, decent and dignified dress will reflect your
personality.
Male residents are not allowed in the ladies hostel and vice versa
Residents are advised in their own interest not to keep money or other
valuable in their rooms. If they keep the hostel authorities do not hold
themselves responsible for any loss of private property belonging to
residents.
Parents shall directly send a letter / fax / e-mail to the Principal for
permission to take the students for any important functions /
emergency.
No one other than parents and authorized local guardian is allowed to
see the students in the hostel, students will not be allowed to take their
student friends to meet their visitors, visitors are not permitted to go to
the students room.

15. Using cell phones and other electronic instruments are prohibited if
they found using, students will be fined of Rs. 500/- if they find using
second time, it will be taken and will not be returned until student finish
the course.
UPKEEP OF THE HOSTEL
1.
Hostelites are responsible for keeping their rooms and the common
areas in the hostel such as visitors’ area bathrooms, stair case,
washing area and prayer room etc. clean and tidy at all times.
2.
Students shall maintain personal and environmental hygiene.
3.
All fans and lights must be switched off when the residents are not in the
room / respective area. A penalty will be imposed for failure to comply.
4.
Cooking is not allowed in the hostel rooms. A penalty will be imposed on
residents found cooking in the unit.
5.
The hostel management reserves the right to make spot checks in the
hostel units without prior notice to the students.
6.
Maintenance staff may enter rooms when necessary in the course of
their duty under the directive of the hostel management. However
every effort will be made to respect the privacy and dignity of the
hostelites.
7.
Common hostel furniture must not be moved without the permission of
the concerned authority.
8.
Attendance will be closely monitored every day morning and evening.
The action will be taken on absentees.
9.
Hostelites are expected to sign with timings in the outgoing register
while leaving and returning the hostel

VISITORS:
1.
Visitors including parents are allowed only in to the visitors area of the
hostel during the visiting hours as follows:I. Every 2nd and 4th Saturday between 1 PM to 5 PM
II. Every 2nd and 4th Sunday 9 AM to 2 PM
No visiting hour is permitted during the working hours.
2.
All visitors to the hostel including the parents and guardians must make
necessary entries in the visitors book available at the hostel entrance
with the warden / security guard
3.
Non hostel students are prohibited in the hostel without the permission
of the concerned authority.
GUEST ACCOMMODATION
1.
Subject to the availability of the rooms, guest accommodation can be
arranged on payment for parents for short stay with prior intimation to
the office.
2.
Any damage caused to the institution property by guests shall be
recovered from the concerned individual
ACCOMMODATION FEE
1.
Hostelites are required to pay their accommodation fee in advance.
The fee is paid on yearly basis.
2.
The institution reserves the right to increase the accommodation fees
at any time if the situation so warrants.
TERMINATION OF TENANCY:
Hostelites can terminate the hostel tenancy by giving atleast one
month written notice.

SECURITY:
1.
Residents are solely responsible for the safety of their own valuables. A
duplicate key for the room should be given to the warden. The warden
reserve the right to cut the lock when required without giving any prior
notice to the residents concerned if no duplicate key has been lodged
with them.
2.
The hostel management is not responsible for any loss, theft of private
property. The hostelites are strongly advised to keep their valuables
under lock and key at all times.
3.
Hostelites are not permitted to change rooms or sleep anywhere other
than in their own bedroom without the consent of the warden.
4.
Any hostelite who finds his /her roommate missing for more than 24
hours must report to the warden / officer concerned immediately, this is
to enable the hostel authorities to take immediate action if any
untoward incidents take place. Your cooperation is very much
appreciated.
5.
Possessions, distribution and use of drugs, alcohol, toxic and
hazardous material are strictly prohibited in the hostel.
Keeping
electrical appliances (except Iron) in the rooms is prohibited.
6.
Pets are not allowed in the hostel complex.
RAGGING
1.
Ragging is a cognizable offence.
2.
Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited and they are advised not
indulge in such activities as per Govt. orders and university rules.
3.
Ragging entails heavy fines / suspension /expulsion from hostel,
institution or university.
4.
Any student with the intention of causing ragging or with the knowledge
that he / she is likely by such act to cause ragging commits or abets
ragging and thereby teases or embarrasses or humiliates or assaults
or uses criminal force criminally intimates or

wrongfully restrains or wrongfully confines or causes grievous hurt or
commits un natural offence or cause death or abets suicide shall be
punished as per the prohibition of ragging act 1997
5.
If the individual committing or abetting ragging are not identified,
collective punishment could be resorted to act as a deterrent
punishment and to ensure collective pressure on the potential raggers.
MESS
1.
Once a student joins the hostel he/she become a member of the mess
until he / she vacates the hostel officially.
2.
The mess is run by the management.
3.
Menu will be displayed on the notice board. Changes can be made on
requirement basis, students shall specify their choice of vegetarian or
non-vegetarian
4.
Day scholars cannot be entertained as guest in the mess.
5.
Food will not be served in rooms and the inmates are not supposed to
take food to their rooms. If an inmate is ill intimate to the warden and
she will make suitable arrangements.
6.
The hostelites should not enter the Kitchen.
7.
Discipline should be maintained in the dining hall.
8.
Hostelites are expected to adhere to the meals timings strictly.
9.
Students should not waste the food.
10. Hostelites should not leave the plates, glasses and cups on the dining
table.
11. Food will be served at the following times (the mess timings scheduled
below is subjected to change if necessary)
a. Breakfast

12. Outside food items will not be allowed in the dining hall.
13. Food will be served only during the scheduled hours, late coming is not
allowed. If the boarder cannot be present in the dining hall because of
duty during the regular meal time he / she may arrange with mess
manager for saving food till he / she comes.
14. Roaming in house coat or any informal dress in the mess is prohibited.
MESS PAYMENT
1.
The students shall have to deposit mess charges in advance up to 10th
of every month.
2.
Mess fee reduction is admissible to the residents of hostel on the
following grounds.
a. approved long holidays declared by the institution for more than or
equal to 15 days
b. period of absence due to serious illness requiring hospitalization,
subject to the production of medical certificate in genuine cases.
c. application for mess reduction should be made in the written form
to the concerned authorities.
3.
No students can claim mess reduction unless he /she had intimated his
/ her absence in advance.
WATER AND ELECTRICITY
Students are required to save water and electricity. The lights should
be put off at 11PM in the room. Students shall not use any electrical
items in the rooms.
TELEPHONE:
Incoming /outgoing call will be allowed between 5 PM to 9 PM on
working days, and 2 PM to 9 PM on Sundays.

SHOPPING
Students are allowed local shopping on 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 2:00
PM to 5:00 PM. The students should get written permission on special
occasion to leave the hostel for shopping with parents / guardians.
HEALTH
Students shall keep the warden informed of their past, present illness to
render timely help in case of emergency.
Sickness of any abnormal
physical condition shall be brought to the notice of the warden immediately
Minor illness will be treated by our hospital doctors. Major illness will be
referred on request and advised to the parents for further care. No students
will be permitted to remain in the hostel without valid reasons. Sick students
shall submit sick leave form to stay in the hostel during class / clinical hours.
Students shall submit medical certificate for illness for more than three (3)
days of absence.
STUDY HOURS:
Study hours for the students will be between 8:30 PM to 10:30 PM daily.
Strict silence to be maintained during study time and students are expected
to use this time only for studies. Students may utilize the available time from
5:00 AM to 6:30 AM, and 4:00 PM to 7;00 PM for writing assignments and
other activities.
RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES:
All the students are required to attend the chapel service in the campus
morning and evening.

Indoor games and few outdoor games facilities are provided to the hostelites

EMERGENCY:
In case of any emergency, please contact the warden or call hostel
authorities or resident tutor. Important telephone numbers will be displayed
on the mess notice board.
DISCIPLINARY ACTION:
Hostelites who fail to abide the rules and regulations will be referred to the
disciplinary committee. The disciplinary committee has full power to take
any action or punishment in the form of fine, suspension or expulsion from
the hostel against the guilty.
COMPLAINTS AND SUGGESTIONS:
Any complaints, suggestions or enquires are always welcome and should
be written and put in the suggestion/complaint box / complaint book or
directly to the officer concerned in writing.
REVISION OF RULES AND REGULATIONS:
The hostel management reserves the right to revise the rules and
regulations from time to time and will keep the hostelite informed of any
changes in the form of notices on the hostel notice boards Ignorance of rules
will not be accepted as an excuse.
