 Roselle HOME
Art is Beauty
Sunrise in Vermont
Welcome to Roselle HOME
Designed in my serene studio in the mountains of Vermont,
pieced and sewn entirely by hand, my
throws are a snuggle waiting to
happen.
Each of my hand made throws is
crafted from the finest fabrics: silk,
wool, cotton, linen and hemp. While
beautiful, they are functional and
carefully constructed to stand up to
years of use, even as they are
beautiful enough to display as a
unique artwork in your HOME.
Undoubtedly among the finer things in life, no two are alike.
Plus ça change
I’ve been known to the discerning art-to-wear community for handmade,
elegant clothing for many years; I’ve enjoyed a passionate, life-long
love of color and design. I moved to my home here in Stowe, VT more
than 20 years ago and began my very personal, and fulfilling artistic
journey here.
I am delighted to share with you my newest artistic endeavor, my line
of Roselle HOME throws, a true evolution of my creative process and
design aesthetic.
Creating warmth in the
home is a new
challenge. There are no
rules for color, no rules
for anything within this
process. One must be
creative and sure enough
of yourself as an artist
enough to believe in what
you are doing, and then
embrace that energy. My
works of art are created
in a variety of fabrics and
styles, and my creations
are never duplicated – each and every piece is unique.
I’m passionate about designing my handcrafted throws: they are
functional enough to stand up to years of use and beautiful enough to
display as artwork. They really can be thrown over the back of a
couch or chair, folded at the foot of the bed or hung on the wall to
enjoy.
Thank you for stopping by my website today and reading a bit more
about me. I hope you enjoy your visit here. Feedback is always
welcome; please consider signing up for my email list. Of course, you
may contact me at anytime via email at [email protected] or at my
studio 802-253-8372 to make a purchase or chat about my work.
Q & A With Roselle:
Why an Art Throw?
Anyone can buy a throw from a box store, but my
handcrafted art throws go beyond a massmanufactured item. To start, each and every
piece I make is entirely unique – you will
never find another like it, because another like
it will never be made in my studio. I believe
any “vessel” you create should have a purpose,
and a personal touch. I drape my throws at
the end of a bed because I like to see
something beautiful every morning. Also, as I
watch television or listen to music, I reach
over for a throw on my couch and “wear” my
throw. I believe that it is good for the soul to
have warmth & beauty together. These are
works of art and every creative project I’ve
undertaken in my life has led to the creation of each individual throw.
These represent a lifetime of artistic passion and the skills I’ve developed
over decades.
Who Buys Your Art Throws? My clients come from around the world, and
are from all walks of life. They buy Roselle HOME throws as décor elements
for their personal spaces, or to use and enjoy everyday. Clients also think
of them as gifts to commemorate special occasions such as a wedding or
anniversary, a new home or first apartment, even to redecorate after their
children have left the nest.
What is your inspiration? Like you, I am inspired by the people, places
and events I’ve experienced throughout my life; and of course,
my family and friends inspire my work as an artist as well.
Living and working in the mountains of Vermont has also
provided a beautiful and peaceful venue for my creative process
everyday, I know I simply could not create as I do if I were
living anywhere else.
What is the Best Thing About Working as an Artist? Well, to be
creative and to be free in your work. It’s hard to do for a living, it’s more
pressure in some ways – you must be much more self-reliant, and I think
more determined to be successful. You of course, determine what your
success is, which is special in its own way.
If you can be an artist during
your life its marvelous, everything you see
and read is part of what you do.
For
example, I woke up this morning and it was
snowing, with the quiet and the beauty and
the trees, it was perfect… More than that,
it’s about making connection, and bringing
something beautiful to other people for them to enjoy. When I know
someone loves something that I’ve made, it’s so special to me. That
connection, and being able to bring happiness to others, those are very, very
important to me.
How Roselle Works Her Magic
Roselle and her assistant Ruth love to play with color and texture, and
her creative process is one in which she frees herself to consider the
possibilities of the fabrics before her. Without a clear vision of what
the end product will be, Roselle experiments with fabrics and the
inspiration for her design begins to take place. After finding inspiration,
she begins to cut, collage and piece her work together. There are four
distinct lines in the HOME Collection, each inspired each inspired by
lush, gorgeous fabrics and the beautiful surroundings in which I live
and create. Prices range from $650 to $2,000.
Roselle HOME Quilted Throws Roselle’s
quilted throws are luxurious and homey.
After they are pieced and laid out to her
satisfaction, the top of the throw is
stitched together. Roselle's keen eye for
detail and her love of diverse textural
patterns are even reflected in the quality
and design of her quilting stitches. They
are sometimes linear and structured,
sometimes free-flowing curves and spirals;
always heightening the beauty of the
finished product.
Roselle HOME Surface Design Throws
These utterly unique pieces are not quilted, rather, they are collages
that are layered and assembled from
a diverse selection of materials and
fabric treatments. The surface design
collection is a further exploration of
sculptural material art in two
dimensions.
Roselle HOME From My Travels Throws
Roselle falls in love with different
textiles that reflect the culture of
countries the world over. Inspiration is
found from sources as varied as primitive
African motifs in Mudcloth & cotton, the
traditional weaving of Bhutan done on a
back strap loom and passed on from
generation to generation, and the
elegance of sari fabrics with lush colors
in beautiful silk. The From My Travels
Throws allow Roselle to bring an exotic,
creative look to her work.
Roselle HOME Fleece Throws Back to the basics of life
in chilly Vermont, Roselle HOME Fleece throws are
warm, cuddly, and even sturdy and washable – but
that doesn’t mean that they aren’t also stylish and
fun. Handpainted, pieced and fringed, these fleece
throws are exceptionally crafted, right down to the
newly-conceived pockets that serve as foot warmers. Roselle HOME Coordinating Pillows Coordinating pillows are available for
each of our throws upon request. Measuring 18” x 18” and handmade
with a feather/down insert. Price Upon Request.
Testimonials
“Yes, indeed, everyone oooed and ahhhed… it was sensational”
“…these are truly works of art and I feel so priviledged to own them.”
“Never would I have considered myself a Roselle Collector – until I
began counting.”
“I greatly admire Roselle’s creativity and own many of her designs. Her
life, her style, her determination are all to be admired.”
“It made me feel like a million dollars! Numerous compliments. I
appreciate the time you spent with us.”
“I am the one who thanks you – I love my stuff”
“The work of fiber artist Roselle
Abramowitz is ephemeral, quixotic, always
beautiful and constantly evolving as her
ferocious intellect and restless curiosity
urge her in new directions. To her many
categories of original art-to-wear (wraps,
kimono, capes, scarves and more) she has
added a new line, Roselle in the Home.
Her decorative throws and quilts are
equally lusciously colored, stunning and,
quite simply, irresistible.”
