MISSION STATEMENT
“THE MISSION OF HOLY SPIRIT CHURCH IS TO SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGE ALL PEOPLE TO
PARTICIPATE IN THE SOLEMN WORSHIP OF GOD THROUGH THE LITURGY AND TO USE THEIR
MANY TALENTS TO ASSIST THE CHURCH AND SPREAD THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST”
SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION: Saturday 4:00 - 4:30 P.M. and anytime upon request.
SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM: Arrangements must be made with the pastor well in advance. Please
see him after any Mass.
SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE: Arrangements must be made with pastor a minimum of six months in
advance. Marriage preparation classes (8 Hours) are a diocesan requirement for registered,
practicing parishioners.
SACRAMENT OF THE SICK: Anointing is recommended in every illness. Call us for anyone unable
to attend Mass, whether they are home or hospitalized.
SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION: Administered annually to 10th graders. Attendance is required
at Religious Education classes during the 9th and 10th grades to be eligible.
FAITH FORMATION: Grades K-8 Sunday, 9:30 – 11:00 AM. (September - May)
DAILY ROSARY: recited at 8:40 AM, Mon. – Fri. in the Chapel.
BULLETIN: Monday is the deadline for information to be printed in the bulletin.

ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL BIKE-A-THON: MAY 3, 1-3 PM at Mariner Point Park. Start getting your sponsors
lined up. Sponsor sheets are available in the narthex. Visit http://fundraising.stjude.org/holyspiritchurch to register online
and create your own fundraising page. Thanks to fundraisres like our Bike-A-thon, no family ever receives a bill from St.
Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food. Our goal is to raise $2000 this year.
THANKS! Another successful parishioner participated Family Dinner Dance occurred with DJ, Rich Bennett. The family
event is possible due to the continued efforts of Sr. Susanne, Deb Bauldauf with Bob, Susan Honeyman, Connie
Kirchner, Eileen Maas, Joann Miller, Daria Perrone, and Michelle Urbanski and Jack. A BIG thanks to Deb for
gathering and assembling our awesome raffle baskets and Veronica Hernandez-Sheppard for tickets. Our baskets
items are all from contributions from the Parish Council, Crafty Ladies, Folk Group, Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers and
parishioner benefactors. A special thanks to all our bakers THANK YOU!

Shaping Our Future Campaign. We have now raised over $285,000 which exceeds the goal the Archdiocese set for us!
We have received $49,707 back from this campaign to date. NOW 80% OF ALL FUNDS RECEIVED WILL COME TO
HOLY SPIRIT! Please keep up the installments on your pledges!!
PARISH COUNCIL NOMINATIONS are due by April 30. Please volunteer to serve or recommend someone to us that
you think would enjoy this role.
PLANT SALE: Friday, MAY 1, 4 -7 PM and Saturday, MAY 2, 8 am - noon. Come and get your annuals, hanging
baskets, perennials, herbs and veggies. Lots more to see and buy. Hot dogs and bake table too!! Want to meet

FLEA MARKET: Items can be dropped off during the week from 10:00 – 3:00. No large furniture but we are accepting

ABERDEEN IRONBIRDS: It’ll be a grand slam evening, don’t miss out! Holy Spirit night at Iron Birds stadium is Sunday,
JUNE 28 at 5:35pm. Tickets are just $10.50 per person and include your game ticket, an Iron Bird’s hat, a program, free

CATHEDRAL MUSIC SERIES: APR. 26, 5 PM, Cathedral of Mary Our Queen. Solemn Choral Vespers by the Cathedral
Choir. Free and open to the public; free-will offering.
Living Rosary Prince of Peace, Monday, April 27 at 6:15. Each person or group will pray a Hail Mary in the language of
their choice. If you have neigbors who speak Spanish or French or Tagalog or Polish, invite them to join us. Each person
can pray in his or her own language. After the Rosary, we will have a Pot Luck Supper. Bring a dish and join us.
WWII veterans! Special day of honor & recognition on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, MAY 16. Ceremony at the WWII
Memorial, and will visit several other sites, including Arlington National Cemetery. Visit to the WWII Memorial will coincide
with five other Honor Flight trips, and we expect to have several hundred WWII veterans together in attendance. The trip
is free for WWII veterans living in Northern VA, DC and MD; Space is limited; deadline to register is April 27. To sign up or

Question for Children: Jesus tells us he is the Good Shepherd, but how do you experience God guiding and protecting
you?
Question for Youth: How do you feel about Jesus' being your shepherd? What does it mean to you that he lays down his
life for you?
Question for Adults: What qualities of God does the image of the Good Shepherd suggest? How do you experience God
in this way?
Last Faith Formation Session April 19th was our last gathering for the year. Jesus has something to teach our children
every Sunday at Mass. Faith Formation is a life-long process.
Confirmation Sister Susanne has to send in information on each teen to be confirmed. This information is overdue. If
you have not turned in information, please, do so immediately. The chart of information which has been turned in is in the
narthex.
Vacation Bible School We are invited to VBS at St. Francis de Sales June 29th to July 3rd. The sessions are 9:00 to
Noon for ages four to ten. Teen and adult volunteers are needed. Flyers are in the narthex.
Teen Game Night May 1st 7:00 to 9:00 is a Game Night for Middle and High School at St. Francis de Sales. Bring a
friend and a snack to share. (Wear old clothes. SFdeF Game Nights are fun and messy.) Stay 9:00 to 10:00 to help
plan summer activities.
