3
2. Fit the paddle (3) into the power unit.
BEFORE USE
• Make sure your electricity supply is the same as the
electrical rating specified on the underside of the
power unit.
• Remove all of the packaging.
• Clean before first use and dry thoroughly.
• Place the freezer bowl in the upright position into a
freezer at least 8 hours before making the ice
cream. Place freezer bowl in a plastic bag before
freezing.
• Prepare the ice cream or sorbet mix. Allow the mix
to cool in the refrigerator.
OPERATION
1. Remove the freezer bowl (4) from the freezer and
attach the assembled lid/power unit/paddle and
turn anti-clockwise to lock into position. Note: Do
not remove the freezer bowl from the freezer until
ready to make ice cream. Take care when handling
the frozen bowl, do not touch any of the metal
parts with bare fingers.
2. Switch the Ice Cream Machine on using the on/off
switch (5).
3. Pour the ice cream or sorbet mix down the chute
(6) and into the freezer bowl. When pouring
mixture into the bowl, always stop at least 4cm
(19/16in) from the top, as the mixture will increase in
volume during freezing. The machine must be
switched on before adding the ice cream or sorbet
recipe to prevent the mix from freezing to the inside
of the bowl.
4. Allow the mixture to churn until frozen or until the
desired consistency is reached. This can take up to
15-30 minutes but most recipes will be ready in
less time.
5. Switch off; remove the power unit/lid. Cover the
churned mixture and place in the freezer until firm.

Important
WARNING
• Do not stop and start the machine during the
freezing process, as this may cause the mixture
in contact with the bowl to freeze preventing
the movement of the paddle.
• Always ensure the Ice Cream Machine is switched
and off and unplugged from the mains before
fitting, removing, or cleaning parts.
• To avoid the motor overheating, the paddle will
change direction of rotation if the mixture
becomes too thick. If the direction of rotation
continues to change, stop the machine when the
mixture is ready.
• Check for damage before use. Do not use if any part
is damaged including the plug or power cord.
• To protect against the risk of fire, electric shock, or
personal injury, do not place the cord, plug, or unit
in water or other liquids or near to heat sources.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they
do not play with the unit. Do not let the cord hang
where a child could grab it.
• This Ice Cream Machine is fitted with a safety
cut out. This will stop the motor if it overheats.
Switch off, unplug the machine and allow the
power unit to cool before continuing use.
• Never use an unauthorised attachment.
• The ice cream produced should be a soft scoop
type. This can be transferred to a separate
container for storage in the freezer or if you wish
to firm the ice cream before eating.
• Avoid contact with moving parts. Keep hands, hair,
clothing, spatulas and other utensils away during
operation to reduce the risk of injury to persons
and/or damage to the machine.
• Do not use metal utensils to remove the mix
from the bowl.
• For indoor, domestic use only.
• Do not use sharp objects or utensils inside the
Ice Cream Machine as they may scratch or
damage the interior surfaces.
• The freezer bowl can be kept in the freezer so
that it is ready for use.
• Always make sure the freezer bowl is thoroughly
dry before placing in the freezer.
• Do not puncture or heat the freezer bowl to
defrost.
• The freezer bowl should be placed in a freezer
with an operating temperature at -18°C
(-0.40°F) or below.
• Do not leave the machine unattended at any time
during use.
• Only use the machine for its intended use as
described in these instructions.
• Ensure that all parts are thoroughly clean before use
to prepare food.
• Never re-freeze ice cream that has been fully or
partially defrosted.
• Any ice cream or sorbet containing raw ingredients
should be consumed within one week from the date
it was made. Ice cream tastes best when fresh.
• For best results always refrigerate the
ingredients before making ice cream.
• Ice cream or sorbet that contains raw or partially
cooked eggs should not be given to young children,
pregnant women, the elderly or people who are
generally unwell.
• The addition of alcohol to recipes inhibits the
freezing process. Place ice cream or sorbets
made using alcoholic ingredients into the freezer
to harden fully before consumption.
• It is strongly recommended to wear gloves when
handling the frozen freezer bowl. Do not touch any
of the metal parts of the freezer bowl with bare
hands when it is frozen.
• If the freezing solution appears to be leaking from
the bowl, discontinue use immediately. The freezing
solution is non-toxic.
• The unit is not intended to be operated by means of
an external timer or separate remote-control system.
• This unit should not be used by persons (including
children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.

RECIPES
Mrs Cooper’s Special Strawberry Ice Cream
1. Put the freezer bowl in your freezer over-night to
freeze.
2. Next day roughly chop 375g strawberries, put in a
bowl and sprinkle over 11/2 tablespoons of caster
sugar and mix, making sure all the cut edges are
covered.
3. Heat (not quite to the boil) 375ml of full fat milk in
a saucepan with a vanilla pod split down the
middle. Leave for 15-20mins to infuse.
4. Whisk 7 egg yolks with 130g of caster sugar until
thick. Pour the milk (minus the vanilla pod –
although scrape the seeds into the mixture) into
the eggs and sugar mixture beating as you go. Put
the whole lot into a clean saucepan with 375ml of
double cream and heat like a custard stirring until
it thickens. Let it stand to cool.
5. Purée or roughly mash with a back of a fork the
chopped strawberries together with the sugar you
sprinkled over them.
6. Pour the custard mixture into Mrs Cooper’s homemade ice-cream machine, switch the paddle on and
then pour the strawberry mixture in together with
11/2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice
and let the machine do the rest (20-30 minutes).
Cover and place the bowl in the freezer until the
ice cream has set.
7. Eat or store in the freezer.
