YEAR 4 NEWSLETTER – TERM 1, WEEK 7A
This week the girls have enjoyed the Tristania Fundraising Week and 4N’s Chapel Service. There has also
been a wide range of activities happening in each of the classes.
Tristania Fundraising Week
This week has been fun especially with the TRISTANIA raffle. It has been super fun helping to raise money
for those poor little animals that are having trouble to heal. I'm happy to help Currumbin Wildlife.
Sienna Thompson 4M
This week has been fun having the Tristania House Shirt Day and having the Tristania Day Chapel Service.
We have also been learning about time this week. I did four sheets of time this week and I'm very proud of

iPadography Club
In iPadography Club we were learning about Depth of Field. Depth of Field is the distance behind the
foreground object and the background landscape in an image. We were working on creating a blur in our
backgrounds. We used a few apps in many ways. We took the photos in focus mode and started exporting
them to Adobe Photoshop Express to add a range of filters to the image. We then added the image to Pic

Art
I have enjoyed Art because we got to draw an animal and colour it with pastels. Claudia Bates 4N
Geography/English
This week we learnt more about comparing Australia and Africa. Makayli Wright 4M
We have been learning the differences between Africa and Australia by reading the text and writing down the

This week I have learnt about how to use a grid in mapping. Jemima Rice 4F
Chapel
This week 4N conducted the Years 4 – 6 Chapel Service. Mr Sketcher worked with the girls on the theme of
Hope and everyone enjoyed learning about and sharing their understanding of Christian Hope.
Drama
At drama this week, we have been doing a South American rainforest play. There is a group of girls being
the snake, a group being the flowers and a group being the black, white, and black and white birds. Capri

Science
I have been experimenting if a seed can grow without air. It has grown a tiny bit. The other seed I've been
experimenting with is growing with air and I am measuring how long it takes to grow and making a movie of
it. The rules I have been following is cows moo softly. They stand for - cows CHANGE one thing - moo
MEASURE and observe and softly is keep everything the SAME. Sierra Llewellyn 4B
This week Zoe and I grew some radish seeds in a jar we grew eight seeds. We used two jars and put four in
each jar. One jar didn't get air but the other did. To make this a fair test we used the saying cows moo softly
it stands for: cows = change only one thing, moo = measure and observe softly = keep everything the same.

Easter Vacation Care
Easter Vacation Care will run from 2 April through to 20 April. It will be closed on 3 and 6 April for Public
Holidays. If you would like to make a booking please go to www.flexischools.com.au.
Casual Bookings are offered at an added cost of $15 per day (plus regular daily fee), dependent on staff
ratios and availability. If you need to cancel or swap a day, this needs to be done before Wednesday 1 April

Ripple Kindness Card
