YEAR 5 NEWSLETTER – TERM 1, WEEK 10B Week 9A in Review We had great time at camp and all the girls pushed themesleves to achieve things they have never done before. Some conquered their fears, some made new friends and others learnt how to believe in themselves. We will post an imovie of all the photo’s taken on camp on the ITunes U Home Preparation course in the coming days. CAMP GOODENOUGH Camp Goodenough was an awesome place! There were so many fun activities to do there. My favourite activities were the giant swing and crate stack. The other activities were indoor rock climbing and high ropes. The first activity I had was team pursuits. I liked challenging myself in all the activities, because they were lots of fun. The second day after breakfast we had high ropes for 3 hours. I have done high ropes before, so I was not sacred. I thought it was too close to the ground. I wanted it higher. After high ropes we had indoor climbing. First I did the hardest one in indoor climbing, but I only went half way. Next we did the giant swing. I went fourth and was so excited to go on it. It was one of my favourite activities. The third day we did crate stack. I went first and it was so wobbly. I loved all the activities at camp and this camp was my favourite of all. By Radhika Patel, 5T Camp GoodEnough Camp GoodEnough was a great camp and I would go back if I could, however, there were lots of hairy spiders and insects I've never seen before. The activities were great. My favourite activity was the giant swing. You were harnessed up and you could choose to go 12 metres high or 6 metres high, you would be pulled up to the height you want and then you would pull a cord and you would drop down and fling into the air. High ropes and indoor climbing were also one of my favourite activities. In high ropes you had a decision to try the easy or medium course and indoor climbing had a variety of rock climbing walls to try as well. Camp Goodenough is the place to be for Year 5 Camp. By Reese Carey, 5T My Camp Experience I stepped my first foot in the camp and the scenery was beautiful. We were right on top of a mountain you could see Mount Warning from over there. We had to walk down a steep hill. It was very tiring but it was worth it. We stayed in a cabin they were very spacious. The food was delicious. On the last night of camp we had chocolate mouse, some wobbly jelly and some ice-cream with chocolate sauce. There was a lot of wildlife. The activities were the best. There were 5 activities we had to do High Ropes, Giant Swing, Crate Stacking, Indoor Climbing and Group Activities. By Sarah Rao, 5T Camp Excitement, curiousness, anxiety, all feelings that whirled around my body as I exited the bus. The feeling of something new and adventurous, thrilling and unknown. My favourite activity was the giant swing and many students favoured it. In this activity we were wearing a full body harness while being pulled up onto the air by other students holding onto a rope. When the instructor says 3 2 1, we pulled the red rope hanging in front of us, which then released us and sent us flying back and forth. I reached the height of 16m (the highest point), where as other students had the choice of going 1/4 or 1/2 of the way. I also enjoyed the other activities including rock climbing, team pursuits, high ropes and crate stack. Overall, I really enjoyed the entire camp and I am sure many of the other students did too.
