Jane will return to work on Tuesday of this week. Moderator’s Appeal: Following the devastating earthquake in Nepal, the Moderator of PCI has launched an appeal. If you wish to contribute please place your donation in the spare yellow envelope at the back of your FWO Pack and mark it ‘Moderator’s Appeal’ to enable it to be gift aided. Envelopes can then be placed in the collection plate today or next Sunday. Prayer Points for the Week: Nepal… The death toll following the devastating earthquake on 25th April now stands at over 7,500 people. Over eight million people have been affected by the quake, tens of thousands have been left homeless and over a million are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance. Aid agencies are warning that there is a serious risk of diseases such as cholera and dysentery breaking out due to contaminated water and poor sanitation. Some churches in Kathmandu, Sindhpalchok and Kavre districts have been damaged or destroyed. Sadly, a number of church services were taking place at the time of the earthquake, and a number of people were killed and injured inside the church buildings. Do please continue to remember in prayer all those affected by this natural disaster. Moderator – Rt. Rev. Michael Barry… Pray for Michael as he enters the last month of his year as Moderator of PCI. Remember him as he undertakes a busy schedule of meetings and events, which over the next week which include: attending the Annual Meetings of the Presbyterian Women in Assembly Buildings; the opening of the newly renovated church building at Crumlin Presbyterian Church; visiting Charis Youth Club in Moy; speaking at a special service for disabled service men and women in Sinclair Seaman’s congregation (10th), and speaking at the 150th anniversary celebration service in Woodburn congregation (10th). Jane… Give thanks that Jane has had time off to relax and replenish her energy levels to help her as she ministers in this place. Pray that she can return to work this week refreshed of mind, body and spirit. Christian Aid Week… Pray that our Christian Aid collectors will get a good response as they go round the houses in our community over the coming days.
