As of 31 December 2014, we attained our goal of 100%+ for 2015 membership. Our Post continues to grow which allows us to support more Veterans’ and Community requests and activities. For the second year in a row, the American Legion National Commander will be visiting Post 347. On March 29, 2015, we will host a dinner and reception for Commander Michael Helm. If you would like to attend this affair, tickets will be on sale in the front office beginning February 15th and ending on March 20th. Tickets will cost $12.00 per person and will include a beef tenderloin dinner, salad & desert. Dress will be jacket and tie for men and dress or business suit for women. Seating will be limited to 200 people so get your tickets early. As a reminder, ALL of our kitchen personnel, lounge personnel, office personnel, bingo personnel, etc. are volunteers. Please treat them courteously. We have had some recent instances where these volunteers have been verbally abused while attempting to perform their tasks to assist all members and guests and make our Post a better place to meet and relax with each other. As you may well imagine, volunteers who are verbally abused tend to not want to be volunteers. In the future, reports of any verbal abuse toward these ladies and gentlemen will be treated seriously and could result in the suspension of privileges. Aim High! For God and Country ……Tim Tierney Chaplain”s Corner: by Chaplain Joerg Wartenberg: Almighty Creator we continue to pray for World Peace. Remove the atrocities against Humanity. Grant us Leadership that will keep America Strong and Free. Grant courage to our active Military. We ask for your help promoting Unity to you God, Country and the American Legion. DON’T FORGET EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT TRIVIA WITH MAGIC MARK IN THE LOUNGE 6:30 – 8:00 PM HELP WANTED As previously noted, the Post will be needing a new Kitchen Manager as of July 1, 2015. Any Post Family Member (Legionnaire, Auxiliary or Son) in good standing is eligible to hold this position. It does require a good deal of time and people skills. Anyone interested in throwing their hat in the ring, please submit your name and any experience in this type of work to the Commander as soon as possible. The Executive Committee will choose the new Manager at the April meeting as the selectee will have to spend some time with Butch Sheeley, the present kitchen manager to be able to come up to speed on the duties and responsibilities. We are also looking for a Hall Manager. This job has the overall responsibility of renting out the Post Hall and ensuring that it is set up for whatever event happens to be scheduled. We are also still in need of a House Committee Chairman. If you have any questions concerning this position, please let the Commander know. Last but not least, our Newsletter Editor unexpectedly passed away last month. Walt Bindman will be sorely missed. The work he did on this publication was fantastic. In that light, the Post is in desperate need of a Newsletter Editor. It takes a few days every other month to accomplish this task. If you have any computer or publishing skills and would be willing to take on this task, please make yourself known to the Commander. It would be greatly appreciated. All of these positions are important to the operation of the Post. If you have any interest, please do not hesitate to, at least, find out what they are about.
