Zambia and the DRC Just Got Closer (and Cheaper)! 01 June 2015 flyafrica.com launches flights from Harare to Bulawayo and Harare to Lusaka and Lubumbashi. Zimbabwe flyafrica today announced its new route expansion plans. After the success of flyafrica.com’s low fare flights from Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls the airline has embarked on a network redesign that adds three more destinations to its ever-expanding route network. Stating from July flyafrica Zimbabwe will add three new routes to the existing four routes that are currently operated. Flights to Lusaka, Zambia, and Lubumbashi, DRC, are the first routes selected by flyafrica.com to develop travel and business connections into countries North of Zimbabwe. Flyafrica is also launching domestic flights between Bulawayo and Harare. This new flight complements the existing Harare-Victoria Falls service. “We have worked hard to design our new network to reflect public demand. Following the great enthusiasm and support for our low–fare service, we are pleased to be continuing with our expansion plans”, says Professor Chakanyuka Karase, CEO of Zimbabwe flyafrica. “Today’s announcement is great news for the people of Zimbabwe and our neighbouring countries. We are offering domestic flights between Harare and Bulawayo and expanding into new countries to the North of Zimbabwe where we can use our low-fare model to generate travel and business opportunities. Zambia is a long-standing partner of Zimbabwe while the ever-expanding opportunities in the DRC makes it an obvious destination for us.” Flights between Bulawayo and Harare and Harare and Lusaka commence on 27 July 2015 while flights between Harare and Lubumbashi commence on 14 September. All three routes are on sale now via flyafrica.com, call centre, dedicated sales offices and travel agents. From 27 July flyafrica will operate 6 weekly flights from Harare to Lusaka, Zambia, with oneway fares starting from $69 (exclusive of airport taxes). From 27 July flyafrica will operate 6 weekly flights from Harare to Bulawayo, with one-way fares starting from $39 (exclusive of airport taxes). From 14 September flyafrica will operate daily flights from Harare to Lubumbashi, DRC, with one-way fares starting from $99 (exclusive of airport taxes). “Following the great enthusiasm and support for our initial service, we are continuing with our expansion plans”, says Professor Karase. “We promised to bring low-fares to the market and we are delighted to be delivering on that promise. Today’s announcement enables passengers to travel around Africa without having to use the traditional path of connecting through Johannesburg. Our new network allows Johannesburg based travellers to connect over Harare to Lubumbashi with a convenient 30-minute stop. This new network, in conjunction with changes to our customer service offering, will place Zimbabwe flyafrica as the airline of choice in Southern Africa.” Zimbabwe flyafrica currently operates twice-daily flights between Harare and Johannesburg; daily flights between Bulawayo and Johannesburg; and three weekly flights between Victoria Falls and Johannesburg. Zimbabwe flyafrica also operates domestic flights between Victoria Falls and Harare. All flights are operated by our fleet of 737 aircraft.
