CALENDAR!
We are excited to announce that Mr. Chorones will
permanently be joining the Fogelsville Family on Friday,
April 10, 2015. We are also fortunate because
Ms. DeRenzo and he plan to work together until the
end of the school year! It will be so nice to see both of
them around Fogelsville! We are a lucky “family!”
Good Luck and Welcome to Fogelsville, Mr. Chorones!
We are very happy to have you as our new principal!
Garden Clean Up—Friday, April 10 at 4:00pm
Our fruits, veggies and herb garden is in need of
help to get ready for planting the spring crop. Please
join us after school on April 10 for about 1 hour to pull
some weeds, till some dirt!
All ages invited and no experience necessary!!
PLEASE NOTE: The children will be going
outside for recess now as long as it does not rain. Even though
we like to think it’s Spring, it is still windy and very chilly out
on the playground. Please make sure your child is dressed
appropriately for these conditions. Thank you.

COUNSELOR
SPIRIT WEARCORNER
SALE
By Amanda Palmer, school counselor
Greetings!
This lead up to spring has certainly been busy in the rainbow room!
Despite all of the snow days, the Parkland School District’s Annual Food Drive kicked off March
9th and ran through March 20th. It has been a school-wide effort to make this year’s food drive a
success. A group of 20 5th grade Peer Mediators volunteered each morning to help collect food as
students brought in their donations. Three small groups of 3rd and 4th grade students wrote and
starred in commercials to advertise for the food drive on the morning news. Each day a student
donated food they were entered in a raffle and three students were chosen to go on a field trip to
deliver the food. Additionally, the class with the most donations won a yogurt parfait party.
April 13th marks the start of PSSA testing for all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.
*English Language Arts Assessment: April 13th – 16th
*Mathematics Assessment: April 20th – 22nd
*Science (4th grade only): April 27th – 28th
Your support and encouragement will be especially important for your child during
this testing period. Below are “8 Ways to be a Test-Taking Star.”
1. Get plenty of sleep the night before the test.
2. Eat a healthy breakfast and wear clothes that are
comfortable.
3. Pay close attention to test directions.
S
4. Answer the easy questions first.
5. Read every answer before you choose one.
C
6. If you’re not sure of the answer, rule out the choices that
H
you know are wrong. Then pick the best answer that’s
left.
O C
7. If you have time, check over your answers before you
O O
turn in the test.
8. If you start to feel stressed, take some deep breaths to
L U
relax.
N
I know the kids are thrilled outdoor recess is a possibility
once again, so take advantage of this nice weather we’re
finally getting. Fingers crossed it’s here to stay! Fresh air
and exercise are a great way to fight PSSA stress! But the
number one tip for students is to believe in themselves and
just do their best!!
Happy Spring!
