God could not be in every place
With loving hands to help erase
The teardrops from each baby's face,
And so He thought of mother.
He could not send us here alone
And leave us to a fate unknown;
Without providing for His own,
The outstretched arms of mother.
God could not watch us night and day
And kneel beside our crib to pray,
Or kiss our little aches away;
And so He sent us mother.

And when our childhood days began,
He simply could not take command.
That's why He placed our tiny hand
Securely into mother's.

The days of youth slipped quickly by,
Life's sun rose higher in the sky.
Full grown were we, yet ever nigh
To love us still, was mother.

And when life's span of years shall end,
I know that God will gladly send,
To welcome home her child again,
That ever-faithful mother.

Update from Session Meeting – April 26, 2015
*Reminder* The church has a system in place concerning the proper procedure to make
purchases, pay bills, and seek reimbursement. from the treasurer.
Decisions to spend
church funds need to be made by a committee or more than a single individual and then
approved by the chairman of the appropriate committee before seeking reimbursement.
Having committee chairs sign off on purchases before obligating the money is protection
for both the individual and the church. It also provides a system of checks and balances
to best utilize church funds.
WELCOME to Jr. Vargas!! He will officially join the church on May 24 even though he has
been attending here for some time now. He works with Margaret Barton at the real estate
office and is a co-owner of Busy Bee’s Convenience Store. Please introduce yourself to
him and welcome him as a new member of our church.
Any information to be included in the church bulletin needs to be in by noon on Wednesdays.
Next workday for the church grounds is May 16.
Elder of the Month for May will be shared by Linda Wells and Kay Shaw.
Pentecost Sunday is May 24. Ministries supported by the Pentecost Offering teach young
people to make faith, fellowship, and service part of their lives. Your gift to the Pentecost
Offering unites young people in Christ and inspires them to share their faith, ideas, and
unique gifts with the church and the world. More information will be available that Sunday.
There will be a HUGE, BLOWOUT PARTY in July to thank Jill, Buddy, Adam, Tracy Evans, our
session moderator, and Bob Rogers, our liaison, and welcome our new pastor, Rev. Scott
White and his family. Because of this grand event, the 40 ft. banana split will be 60 ft.!!
Be looking for the date so you can make plans to attend!!

Christian Education is gearing up for summer fun. During the summer we will not have
normal Sunday School. Instead, we will be showing a weekly movie over different stories
of the bible. This will help give the Sunday School teachers a break and allow time to
build our new curriculum over the summer. We would like to invite members of the
congregation to volunteer to sit the with the students during the movies. Please
consider it!
We have made plans this month to order our supplies for Vacation Bible School. This
will be the second week of June and will include an end of the week pool party and
Wintersmith Park. Flyers will be typed up to go home with students in church and for
the surrounding elementary schools to send home before summer vacation.
The young adult class has events every month as a form of fellowship and relaxed
fun. As the Christian Education committee chair, I would like for you all to know
that these events are open to everyone! Pay attention to the bulletins and calendar
and make sure to join them for a fun evening at least once a month.
God Bless!
Ellen Sweatt
PW Horizons Bible Study
Presbyterian women know that studying the Bible is done best in conversation with others, our new study,
Reconciling Paul: A Contemporary Study of 2 Corinthians by Elizabeth Hinson-Hasty. Although Paul's writings
are some of the most influential in Christianity, they are also some of the most problematic for some women.
Examining the struggles Paul faced and the integrity of his teaching is a significant task for us today in this time
of great cultural change. The author invites us to read Paul's letter afresh in light of today's issues and wrestle
together with Paul's issues as they relate to our own context
The class is still going on the second Tuesday of each month at 12:00 p.m. in the Westminster Fellowship Center
parlor .and this class is for nine sessions. The same class will also be offered on the second Sunday of each month
at 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. All are welcome, women and men, and participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch
or supper. Please contact Jill Acree (436-1438) if you have questions or comments.
