The Prayer of Humble Access – We do not presume to come to this Thy holy table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in Thy manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under Thy table; but Thou art the same Lord, whose property is always to have mercy, grant us, therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of Thy dear son, Jesus Christ, and to drink His blood, that we may live and grow thereby, and that, being washed through His most precious blood, we may evermore dwell in Him, and He in us. Amen. The Prayer of Consecration Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who of Thy tender mercy didst give Thine only Son, Jesus Christ to suffer death upon the cross for our redemption, who made there, by His oblation of Himself once offered, a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation, and satisfaction for the sins of the whole world; and did institute, and in His holy Gospel command us to continue, a perpetual memory of His precious death until His coming again; hear us, O merciful Father we humbly beseech Thee and grant that we receiving these Thy creatures of bread and wine, according to Thy Son, our Savior Jesus Christ’s holy institution, in remembrance of His death and passion; may be partakers of His most blessed body and blood who, in the same night He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks He broke it, and gave it to His disciples, saying, Take, eat; this is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me. Likewise after supper, He took the cup; and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them saying, drink ye all of this; for this is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for you, and for many, for the remission of sins, do this, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of Me. Amen. Administration of the Elements The Model Prayer Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the Kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. Doxology (Congregation standing.) Benediction (Congregation seated.) “Where Lives are Being Changed, Hurts are Being Healed, And Hope is Being Restored!” Order of Worship April 5, 2015 – 10:45 a.m. Resurrection Sunday The Call to Communion and Worship Rev. Dr. Frances “Toni” M. Draper, Pastor (Congregation standing.) If any man sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and He is the propitiation for our sins and not for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world. Wherefore ye that do truly and earnestly repent of your sins, and are in love and charity with your neighbors, and intend to lead a new life, following the commandments of God, and walking from henceforth in His holy way, draw near with faith, and take the Holy Sacrament for your comfort; let us pray: Invocation ~ Rev. Dr. Frances “Toni” M. Draper (Congregation seated.) Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who of Thy great mercy hast promised forgiveness of sins to all them that with hearty repentance and true faith turn unto Thee have mercy upon us, pardon and deliver us from all our sins, confirm and strengthen us in all goodness, and bring us to everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Congregational Response ~ Rev. Nicole Batey (Congregation seated.) Almighty God, unto whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid, cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love Thee, and worthily magnify Thy holy Name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Blowing of The Shofar Processional Worship in Praise Worship in the Word ~ I Corinthians 15: 1-4; 12-17 (God’s Word Translation) ~ Rev. Moses Stevens, Chair of Trustee Board (Read responsively) Brothers and sisters, I’m making known to you the Good News which I already told you, which you received, and on which your faith is based. In addition, you are saved by this Good News if you hold on to the doctrine I taught you, unless you believed it without thinking it over. I passed on to you the most important points of doctrine that I had received: Christ died to take away our sins as the Scriptures predicted. He was placed in a tomb. He was brought back to life on the third day as the Scriptures predicted. If we have told you that Christ has been brought back to life, how can some of you say that coming back from the dead is impossible? If the dead can’t be brought back to life, then Christ hasn’t come back to life. If Christ hasn’t come back to life, our message has no meaning and your faith also has no meaning. In addition, we are obviously witnesses who lied about God because we testified that he brought Christ back to life. But if it’s true that the dead don’t come back to life, then God didn’t bring Christ back to life. Certainly, if the dead don’t come back to life, then Christ hasn’t come back to life either. Altogether: If Christ hasn’t come back to life, your faith is worthless and sin still has you in its power. Gloria Patri Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, it is now and ever shall be world without end, Amen. (Leader) “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is the one true Church, apostolic and universal, whose holy faith let us now declare.” The Apostles’ Creed ~ Rev. Gwanda Wallace I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried. The third day He arose from the dead, He ascended into Heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church*, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting, Amen. *Refers to the church universal, NOT the Roman Catholic Church. Prayer Song - “Because of Who You Are” Because of who You are, I give You glory Because of who You are, I give You praise Because of who You are I will lift my voice and say Lord, I worship You because of who You are Lord, I worship You because of who You are Jehovah Jireh, My Provider Jehovah Nissi, Lord You reign in victory Jehovah Shalom, My Prince of Peace Lord, I worship You because of who You are Lord, I worship You because of who You are Worship in Prayer ~ Rev. Diada McCray Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, Judge of all men, we acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness, which we from time to time most grievously have committed, by thought, word, and deed, against Thy Divine Majesty, provoking most justly Thy wrath and indignation against us. We do earnestly repent, and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings, the remembrance of them is grievous unto us. Have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, most merciful Father, for Thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, forgive us all that is past; and grant that we may every hereafter serve and please Thee in newness of life, to the honor and glory of Thy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
