The Middle School sports teams will be joining the Patriot League next year which will include changes to the th team set up. Unfortunately track will no longer be offered to 6 graders next years. Another change is that th th each team will be a made up of two 7 and two 8 grade teams. We will be posting for new two (2) Board Members to join the Executive Committee to fill our current vacancies. The positions will be posted March 9th on line on the Frontier Academy website under “About Us” th and then “Executive Committee” section. Acceptance of applications will close April 8 . Interviews will be scheduled following this timeframe. If you have an interest in getting involved in the leadership of our school, please consider applying. We are would prefer to have those with applying with backgrounds in the following areas: educational, legal or construction. Please contact a current Board Member to learn more about it. The annual League of Charter Schools meeting was held late February; five staff attended and gave a report on current issues. st The new District 6 Superintendent starts July 1 . We will send her a welcome and congratulations on her new position. The Board approved a volunteer opt-in Community Service designation program for honoring students who achieved specific goals during their high school years. This program will become effective next year. The Board approved a Boys Golf program for the next school year. The Board approved the new school HS and MS fees for the next school year. The changes included are that now the parents will pay a fee for paper instead of bringing in reams of paper at the beginning of the year. Also, an optional Athletic Fee was approved for students to enter home sporting events with the pass versus being charged at each event. Board officers were approved again for another year. Our current finances are right on budget and looking good as we are using our end of the year surplus to cover our land payment (if that ends up being most advantageous for us). The Executive Committee would like to thank all the families and staff that have provided feedback on the security proposals that have been discussed over the past few months. We continue to evaluate all options that have been presented, but are more actively researching one or more full-time security officers similar to what other charter schools are providing. We recognize the impact this may have on the budget and other priorities of the school and are taking time to carefully research this option. Students in grades 3-12 will be participating in these state assessments. When creating the schedules for testing, we considered many factors, including the time required for testing, the classes missed while testing, and previous testing schedules that have been successful. English language arts & math: March 9-26 Science & social studies: April 13-23 English language arts & math: April 20-May 7 Please see more detailed schedule information at frontieracademy.net/testing On these test days, we ask that students arrive to school on time. Help your children feel their best by making sure they go to bed early, eat a good breakfast and bring healthy lunches and snacks. Please do not schedule appointments for your child during these test days or times. These test results are important to your student and Frontier Academy. The scores help us determine how much progress we have made and they affect our standing with the state of Colorado and District 6. The Colorado Department of Education states that students may not have cell phones in the testing room. Students need to leave cell phones at home, in lockers, or at the front office. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Budzynski at 970-339-9153 or Mrs. Willis at 970330-1780. With your help, spring testing will be great!
