Note : Once your baby is eating solid foods, it is suggested dumping the waste into the toilet prior to putting the soiled diapers in the bin to help reduce odour. Diaper Cream No No’s The following diaper creams and products cannot be used with BabyDue cloth diapers or any cloth diaper: 1.Vaseline or any petroleum jelly products 2.Penaten 3.Sudocrem 4.Aveeno 5.Zincofax 6.Balmex zinc oxide 7.SebaMed 8.Baby Bees 9.Live Clean 10.Baby life brand – Shoppers Drug mart 11.Boudreaux's butt paste 12.Aquaphor baby healing ointment 13.A&D Zinc 14.Destin ointment 15.Destin Creamy 16.Weleda 17.Desert Essence 18.Happy Baby soothing diaper cream 19.Anything containing cod liver oil This is a partial list, not all inclusive of creams that are unacceptable. General guideline of ingredients to avoid is anything that contains petroleum/mineral oil, animal fats (tallow, glycerine etc) and zinc content higher than 13%, cod liver oil and beeswax. These will cause staining and repellency of cloth diapers. Most of these creams are unhealthy choices for your baby anyway, as many chemicals and hormone disrupting ingredients such as parabens and formaldehyde releasing agents are used in the formulations. We can provide you with a complete product line of baby skin care products, including a diaper cream that is effective, safe, and healthy for your baby. Diaper sizingOur diaper sizes go by weight and are coded by the coloured stitching: newborn/small diapers – 5.5 lbs – approx 10lbs (red stitching ) medium – 10 lbs – approx 20lbs (blue stitching) large - 20 lbs – 27 lbs ( green stitching) X Large – 27 lbs + (yellow or white stitching) Diaper cover sizing We recommend you start with 5 covers, 3 xsmall and 2 small Sizing – xs -6-11 lbs, small- 10 – 14, med 13-20, large 20 – 27, XL 27 + These sizes are approximate, as all babies are different shapes and sizes. Indications of an ill fitting diaper or cover are leaking issues, red marks on skin if too small, gaps and sagging if too large. The snaps on the diapers are adjustable, so all snaps do not have to be done up on each side, or evenly. Diaper Cover Care: Hand or machine wash your diapers covers using a gentle detergent- no bleach, phosphates or other harsh chemicals, as this can break down the laminate that is what acts as a barrier. Hang dry or tumble dry on low. Close Rikki covers (Velcro) before washing or drying if washing with other garments, or use a mesh laundry bag. One cover a day should be sufficient, unless there is a soiling. Note: Remember that the skin is the largest organ and has many functions. The skin is a temperature regulator/controller, and also a barrier. There is no cause for alarm if your babies skin appears flushed or a bit red before/after a diaper change. This is a normal occurrence and can be caused by dampness or wet skin, response to clothing against the skin or in warm weather a bit of sweating. Just like us when these things happen! Cloth inserts – for added absorbency. These are padded inserts for added absorbency. These are mostly used at night when the baby sleeps longer, but can be used anytime. There is no additional charge for these, you just have to request them either as a standing order, or weekly based on your needs. Suggestions for cloth wipe usage: A healthier alternative to disposable wipes, less expensive and more environmental friendly too! Soothing when soaked in warm water and your favourite essential oils. Use a wipe warmer or simple crock pot to keep them warm and ready to use. Simply pre-soak them and stack them in a container for easy access by change table. Just throw the dirty wipes in with your dirty diapers. Note : Disposable wipes contain many known skin irritants, such as alcohol, synthetic fragrances, preservatives and hormone disrupting chemicals. They should never be used on a baby’s skin, ironically. They do not kill any bacteria or viruses, and there is no such thing as wipes for “sensitive skin”, and ”fragrance free” in spite of what the labels claim. A cloth with water is all that is needed. And don't forget some other great accessories we carry: Mother-ease swim diapers are very popular! $22.50 ea BabyDue Travel bag - perfect to contain the dirty diapers and smell!
