expression of interest to provide a craft demonstration

5 June to 2 August, 2015
April 2015
The National Wool Museum wants you!
EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST CRAFT DEMONSTRATORS : SCARF FESTIVAL© 2015
We are calling on expressions of interest from those interested in presenting craft demonstrations or
workshops during the annual Scarf Festival© from 5 June to 2 August, 2015. This year’s theme is:
Coastlines.
Last year’s festival was a great success, with more scarves entered than ever before. The involvement
of our volunteer demonstrators is a great asset to our exhibition program, a draw for many visitors and
a great way to introduce our visitors to a broad range of arts and craft techniques and materials. We
aim to have at least one demonstrator or demonstration group scheduled for each day of the week (the
Museum is open 7 days), from approx 10am to 4pm, ensuring there is always something for visitors to
see and learn during their visit to the festival. Our visitors love watching our artisans and crafters at
work and enjoy speaking with you about your craft.
The demonstration space will be located inside the ground floor gallery, as part of the Scarf exhibition.
We ask for a minimum one-month commitment from demonstrating individuals and/or groups. If you are
unable to make this commitment, but would like to be involved in the Festival please contact me to
discuss scheduling. For craft groups, for example, consider involving members on a rotating basis with
different group representatives each week. Participation is done on a voluntary basis.
The demonstration program will be promoted extensively. Festival demonstrators have the option to
sell their goods and/or services, for which the Museum takes no commission, but demonstrators are
responsible for all sales and cash handling.
We are also looking for expressions of interest from those interested in leading craft workshops. We
are looking for artists and crafters interesting in leading either a single or a series of textile inspired
workshops; you do not have to work with wool. The workshops are offered Saturday afternoons for 2
hours for a maximum of 12 participants. Selected workshop dates are available from June to August.
Associated tutor fees and costs will be discussed with selected instructors. Contact me for more
information.
If you would like to be involved, please fill out the “expression of interest” form below and indicate
which day/s would be most suitable for you. Forms can be returned by email, mail or in person. If
you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at the details below.
Kind regards,
