Welcome Visitors We welcome all visitors to our sanctuary today. Whether you are searching for a church home or seeking to know more about a personal relationship with our Lord, God’s House wants to serve you, and wants you to be a part of our family and the family of God. We hope that you will want to find out more about us and how we may minister to you. Church In Study Please join us each Sunday morning for Church In Study at 9 am. We have classes for all ages. There’s a place just for you! Memorial Day is especially important as we are reminded almost daily of the great sacrifices that the men and women of the Armed Services make to defend our way of life. Praise and thank a veteran today who have and still are out there keeping us safe. Sundays Church In Study: 9 am. Morning Worship 10:30 am. It is with Jesus Joy that I greet you in the Spring Issue of our Newsletter. We have made it through Winter and now we are in Spring. Spring brings us the Resurrection and new life. Spring shows us that we can begin again. Spring lets us know that what has been dormant now has new life. You may have fallen but you don’t have to stay down. You can get up, dust yourself off and keep on living. Let’s use this time wisely. We have been given another chance to get it right. We cannot go back and correct the mistakes of the past. We don’t have to repeat those mistakes. We can begin anew. Praise God! Pastor Davis Owned, it is riches; studied, it is Wisdom; trusted, it is salvation; Loved, it is character; and Obeyed, it is power. 11th Anniversary as pastor of God’s House Baptist Minister It has been 11 years now, and God has richly blessed us. The House has experienced spiritual and physical growth, miraculous healings, and financial bounty: First, because God is gracious and good. Secondly, because we have an Under-Shepherd that hears, preaches, and obeys His voice. Our Pastor has humbled himself in the sight of the Lord, that we may be lifted up. As we go forth and embark upon all that the Lord has in store for this great House. Let’s continue to keep our Pastor lifted in prayer. Pray that he remains, as the anagram of his name, Floyd - faithful, loyal, obedient, yielding, and determined to lead us with excellence on this victorious journey. Dr. Floyd W. Davis, we love you, we thank you and we salute you as our Pastor. Members of the Singles Ministry attended an occasion at the “Salem Rehab Center.” The occasion was called “Dinner with the Doctor”. There was a question and answer period from participants in the audience which was very informative. The doctor who entertained questions and answers was Dr. Puffenber, a urologist who is a very outstanding doctor and practices in the Roanoke Valley. Usher Ministry Invites you to turn in your prayer request. They are prayed over on Thursdays at 1 o’clock. We praise God for His faithfulness. GHBM supports the building of a new church in Kenya By: Elders Charlene & Isaac Scott What do you want people to remember about you? What do you want them to think of you? God wants us to be God pleasers and not people pleasers but it is okay to have a good reputation. The Bible teaches us that we should let our lights shine so that people can give God Glory. Proverbs 20: 11 says “Even a child is known by his or her doings”. This means your behavior and actions. Teachers often write remarks on report cards that say “pleasure to teach” or shows great promise”. But sometimes the comments say “too talkative or disrupts class”. Think about it. What do you want to be known for? Welcome New Members Alice Terrace— Ernest Robinson Jasmine Ware— Forest McKin- Have you ever felt like God just kept putting something on your heart? Sometimes he’s preparing us for something he wants us to do or someone that He wants us to minister to. I’m not exactly sure why it seems like everything I read or hear recently is about reaching out and encouraging one another. Maybe it’s because I need to be on watch for some opportunity God is going to place before me. Isn’t it exciting to think what God may have in store for us? Everyday, we cross paths with people who need to feel loved and encouraged. They may not have any idea how special they are to us and in the eyes of God. How easy it is for us to lose focus and scramble our priorities. We get so busy doing such good things that we miss out on one of the highest things God created us to do “encourage one another.” The power of the spoken word is great in that words are like seeds. What we plant will grow. If we plant selfish, destructive and critical words, we will reap relationships that are selfish, destructive and critical. On the other hand, if we consistently plant words of encouragement, love and genuine care, our relationships will flourish! Look for the good in people! Be a cheerleader for the people God sends your way. “Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord: keep watch over the door of my lips.” PB Mark your calendar May 3, 2015 11th Anniversary of Pastor Floyd Davis God’s House Baptist Ministry Family of William (Bill Gravely in the death of his sister, Barbara Cannaday.
