WORDS FROM OUR PASTOR
My Loved Ones,
Today, we join Christians throughout the world in celebration of
Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday is the
prelude to the central event in our
Christian faith, which we celebrate
next week on Easter Sunday. On
today, Palm Sunday, we acknowledge Jesus’ procession where he
rode on a donkey through crowds
of people crying, “Hosanna!” This
procession was not to Jerusalem,
but to Calvary, in fulfillment of his
salvific mission for humankind.
This coming week is Holy Week! This is one of the busiest
times in the life of our church, beginning with our noon day
Holy Week Passion to Pentecost Services, Monday through
Thursday. Then, Thursday evening at 7:00pm, we will come
to the table for Silent Communion. On Good Friday, at
Greater Centennial AME Zion, will host our community’s
“Seven Last Words” service. That evening, we will fellowship at our Fish Supper starting at 5:00pm, followed by the
Dramatic Arts Ministry’s Easter Pageant production “He
Suffered for You” at 7:00am.
IN GOD’S GRACE & LOVING CARE
On Resurrection Sunday, our celebration will begin with
our 6:00am Sunrise service, followed by the 8:00am
service at Grace. Our 11:00am service will be held at the
Nellie Thornton High School Auditorium. Please do all
that you can to join us in our celebration this week, as
we give glory to God for His redemptive act for a broken
humanity in Christ Jesus.
Internally, we are acknowledging and celebrating the
contributions of the women who serve in the Support
Ministry. We are grateful for their steadfast commitment,
faithfulness, and sacrifice to serve as receptionist, hostesses, clerical assistants to the administration and door
keepers of the Lord’s house during evening hours and
Saturdays. I want to thank you for all that you do to make
Grace the church it is today. Please know that your contribution does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. We thank
God for you.
Our ongoing challenge continues to be the Countdown
to Construction. I am so grateful to those of you who are
joining me in expressing your faith through your weekly
contribution to the Capital Campaign. Ours is a journey of
faith. We trust God for the outcome. JESUS CHRIST IS RISEN!
