A rapid industrialization coupled with uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources, has affected environment, by ultimate changes in the natural cycle, causing impact and/or effects on air, water, land, flora, fauna, human settlement and health of people. Industrial development, besides economic growth, brings along with it a most of environmental problems. Thus, the knowledge in the field of Environmental Sciences to all concerned is of a prime importance. In industrial environment still there is a lack of trained environmental professionals. Recently, a strong need has been felt for trained professionals who can handle the operations process including monitoring and control of various pollution aspects with professional expertise. In view of the above the course has been designed by drawing the expertise from the leading national academic and/or research institutes and industry too. This course upgrades the knowledge, and develops skills and potential of the personnel to take a challenging job in the field of environmental sciences and technology in industry. PGDEPCT course has completed 26 years of its existence at Garware Instiute of Career Education & Development, University of Mumbai. EPCT Laboratory is well equipped. The experiments which are carried out in laboratory are related to the various parameters for the pollution monitoring and control. Along with the laboratory work students are also exposed to the actual industrial scenario through industrial visits. For this purpose visits to the various kinds of industries, water treatment plants and environmental monitoring labs are arranged. To get the experience of field work, students collect various samples of air, water, etc and analyze them in the laboratory and submit the report. Projects include noise monitoring, drinking water analysis for particular area, effect of Ganpati idol immersion on water bodies etc. PGDEPCT Laboratory Workshops: Apart from the regular classroom lectures, special workshops are also organized for the students to give the exposure on the upcoming field. During workshops, experts from various fields are invited to deliver a lecture. This gives good knowledge and experience to the students.
