GIESINGER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MAY 2015 |http://giesinger.conroeisd.net/ As we near the end of this school year we are focused on end of the year activities; benchmarks, assessments, field day, and kindergarten and fourth grade graduations. Please refer to our important dates so you can participate in these activities. This has been a very productive and rewarding school year. Giesinger Elementary was one of twenty-five schools in Texas to receive the National Blue Ribbon Award in Washington, D.C. Our students have worked hard and gained many skills and acquired new knowledge. Our teachers are dedicated to our school goal to add value to each student. We celebrate all their successes! Our PTO is a supportive and positive group of people who give of themselves to all our students. I appreciate their hard work and dedication to our school. The school carnival was a huge success and students, parents and staff had a great time. Our PTO always goes the extra mile for our students and staff. It has been a pleasure to work with this organization. Our parents are the best! Your support for your children and their progress insures our school success. Our teachers and staff appreciate your positive attitude and eagerness to assist whenever possible. Thank you for being a part of the Giesinger family! We have much to accomplish before school ends on Thursday, June 4, 2015. We will miss our fourth grade students as they transition to intermediate school and look forward to seeing our returning students. Have a safe and wonderful summer! Becky Page Principal From Our Assistant Principal… It seems like it was just yesterday when Mrs. Page and I were welcoming our Giesinger Eagles on the first day of school and now another school year is almost over. I am currently accepting summer school registration forms. I have information on academic and enrichment sessions. Please contact me at 936-709-2606. Registration is currently open and closes May 27, 2015. Mrs. Hammond From Our Counselor… Wow! I cannot believe it is already May! Where has the year gone? With the year coming to a close, I can't help but start thinking about the next school year. I know this time of year can be hard on children due to not wanting to leave their current teacher or group of classmates. So, here are some tips on how to address these issues. PREPARING YOUR CHILD FOR TRANSITION Anxiety is a normal feeling when transitioning to a new grade or school. Some children will be affected by grade/school transitions more than others. Whether your child is entering kindergarten, starting middle school, or just moving up another grade, preparing him/her is very helpful and important. Focus On The Positives: new friends, new teachers, and new opportunities Address Fears: listen to and validate your child’s fears, talk about fears you had at their age & how you handled it Attend School Events: take advantage of orientations, many include tours of the building Reach Out For Support: if your child is experiencing high levels of anxiety about the upcoming transition, consult available resources (books, internet, family, friends) or the school counselor and teacher. As always, I am here to help in any way I can. Please email me or call me if there is anything I can do to help you and your Eagle!
