Take the First Fifteen Challenge

Take the First Fifteen Challenge
A wise Girl Scout Leader once said, “A parent should only have to pay for Girl Scout registration one
time – the first year. Proceeds from the Girl Scout Cookie Sale should be used in all years after.”
It is a great best practice for all troops to emulate and a solid lesson in financial skills for girls as they
learn to budget their troop profits to cover both the everyday expenses of their Girl Scout experience and
the extraordinary trips and activities. As your troop makes its final decisions about its Girl Scout Cookie
Sale profits, encourage your girls to budget the first fifteen dollars to cover each girl’s membership during
Spring Renewal. It is one less thing for the troop parents and leadership to complete during the busy and
sometimes costly Back to School season. Challenge your girls to budget the first $15 of their Girl Scout
Cookie Sale Program profits to pay their membership fee during Spring Renewal.
The following checklist is intended to be a helpful tool to remind you of the tasks that may need to
be done as you wrap up the end of your Girl Scout year and not all tasks are required.
