Regents’ Scholars
Program
Support a First-Generation Aggie
The Regents’ Scholars Program was created in 2003 to help students who
will become the first in their families to obtain college degrees. Almost 2,000
Regents’ scholars are currently pursuing their college dreams at A&M, and the
program has a 90 percent retention rate.
First-generation undergraduates whose total family income is less than $40,000
per year are eligible for the Regents’ Scholars Program. In addition to financial
support, the program provides them with the academic and social assistance
that is vital to the success of a first-generation college student. Regents’ Scholars
live on campus their freshmen year, participate in a learning community and
attend an orientation designed by continuing Regents’ Scholars.
Texas A&M touches many lives through the Regents’ Scholars Program, making
the dream of a college education possible for approximately 600 new Aggies
every year. Because Regents’ Scholarships are endowed, they will support firstgeneration Aggies forever.
Fund a Regents’ Scholar
Leave a Legacy
• An individual or group
can establish an endowed
Regents’ Scholarship with
a gift of $100,000 that can
be paid over a period of up
to five years. You also can
create a future Regents’
Scholarship through a
planned gift.
• The Regents’ Scholars
Program allows you to
develop relationships with
students to share ideas and
dreams. You will meet your
scholars and other donors
at an annual on-campus
spring banquet.
• Fund your scholarship with
cash, securities, real estate
and corporate matching gifts.
• Name your scholarship in
memory or honor of a
person, class or organization.
• This scholarship provides
a student with a four-year
award. Every four years, a
new student will benefit
from your scholarship.
• Once the gift is funded,
you will become a member
of the A&M Legacy Society,
and your name will be
etched in Legacy Hall at
the Jon L. Hagler Center.
• Your gift will be recognized
on a master plaque in the
Pavilion on the A&M campus.
• New Regents’ Scholarship
donors are also recognized
in Spirit magazine.

I came from a low-performing
high school in Fort Worth,
and my A&M classes were
really difficult for me at first.
But my Regents’ scholarship
coordinator helped me get
some academic and personal
counseling. I now hold
leadership positions in the
Regents’ Scholars Program
and have been invited to
conferences across the nation.
Being in this position in my
life amazes me compared
to the life I was living just a
few years ago.
