It is not enough merely to provide students with opportunities to speak in English, as teachers we need to
encourage students to speak in a variety of different situations, and hence help them to learn to speak with
confidence. The ideal would be to travel to different locations and carry out different tasks, the next best
thing however is to enact those situations in a classroom. Keeping in mind, the theme of English Oratory

HERITAGE CLUB
Culture plays an important role in the development of any nation. It represents a set of shared attitudes,
values, goals and practices. A country as diverse as India is symbolized by the plurality of its culture.
India has one of the world’s largest collection of songs, music, dance, theatre, folk traditions, performing
arts, rites and rituals, paintings and writings.
Our school has started a Heritage Club to set up on every Friday with an aim to enable the students to value
and preserve the rich heritage of our composite culture and to inspire young minds to develop secular,
cultural values and contribute to the sustainable growth of our nation. Heritage education completes our
understanding of who we are and what we are.
This Friday, the students of heritage were quite excited as they were asked by their teachers to prepare a list
of any ten World Heritage sites recognized by UNESCO and talk about any story/myth/personal experience
related to any one of them in class. The students enthusiastically participated in the activity, came up with
several stories and narrated them to the whole class and learnt about the world heritage sites in a fun manner.
