DAILY BULLETIN

Day B
1.
STUDENTS & STAFF:
Congratulations to the members of the Forensic Team for their excellent performance at the PA High School Speech
League's State Tournament which was held recently at Susquehanna University
In order to be eligible for participation, the students had to choose interpretive pieces, write original oratories, prepare debate
arguments, or compose extemporaneous speeches given a certain amount of preparation time in the midst of competition.
Students earned their spots by competing with other schools in the area at the qualifiers held in February. Students competed
in either three or four preliminary rounds, and then based on judges' rankings moved on in the competition or were eliminated.
Along with Senior High students, Greater Latrobe was represented in the following categories by these Junior High students:
 Paige Lesko participated in Prose Interpretation
 Jason Starr in Commentary Speaking and
 Anna Wilson in Impromptu Speaking
In addition to their achievements at the State Tournament, the Greater Latrobe chapter of the National Speech and Debate
Association earned the Leading Chapter Award for 2013-2014. The highest award that the NSDA bestows on a chapter, the
team earned 158 members and degrees over the past eight years. Out of 3,000 NSDA member schools, Greater Latrobe is one
of only 110 to receive the award and recognition.
Students may be members of the Forensic Team in grades 9 - 12, and new members are always welcome. The team's season
runs from September until April. If interested or need clarification, please contact Dr. Bompiani-Smith at the Greater Latrobe
