This competition is open to all amateur and professional visual artists.
The entry must have been executed by the entrant no earlier than 26 January 2013 and not been
previously entered in this competition.

Terms and Conditions - Art Section
EXHIBITION DETAILS
The exhibition will be displayed at the Australian Axemans Hall of Fame, Bells Parade, Latrobe from
20-31 January from 9.00 pm until 3.00 pm daily.
As many works as possible will be displayed throughout this exhibition period however displayed works
will be at the discretion of the coordinator and subject to hanging space at the venue.
The coordinator reserves the right to exclude artworks from being exhibited if they are deemed to be of an
unacceptable standard (i.e. still drying etc) or do not comply with the conditions of entry.
THEME AND ARTIST STATEMENT
The theme for this year's competition is "INSIDE OUT", enabling wide and varied interpretation.
An artists' statement of up to 100 words is required to assist the judging process.
You don't have to be a writer to write an artist statement. The purpose of an artist statement is to
basically introduce your artwork to the viewer and to entice them to want to know more about you and
your work.
Written in plain language and understood by the masses, it will assist in providing a greater understanding
of what is being viewed and its linkage with the theme.
If you were there in person, the viewer may ask you about your art. In your absence, the artists' statement
answers for you, providing an enhanced appreciation of your artwork.
EXHIBITION CATEGORIES
The judging panel will view all artworks and award prizes in the following categories -

1st Prize (Acquisition) - $1,500
2nd Prize - $500

Sponsored by House of Anvers and Latrobe Council
All entries in the art and photographic exhibitions are automatically entered in the -
Viewer's Choice Award - $200
Sponsored by Latrobe Council
PRIZES
First prize in the art section of $1,500 is an Acquisition Award meaning that the artwork becomes the
property of Latrobe Council.
Further, the winner of First Prize in the art section will be invited as the Guest Exhibitor in 2016.

The 2nd Prize winner in the art section agrees to have their artwork displayed at the House of Anvers,
Latrobe post exhibit until 26 January 2016.
The names of all prize winners (except the Viewer's Choice Award) will be publicly announced and
presented at 11.00 am on Australia Day, 26 January, at the exhibition venue. Prize winners will be
advised prior to this presentation to enable them to be present to receive their award.
The Latrobe Council Viewer's Choice Award will be chosen by public vote of all art and the photography
exhibition throughout the exhibition period and announced post exhibit.
ART ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
□ Printed photographs will not be accepted in this section. There is a separate digital photographic
Exhibition run simultaneously with this Exhibition.
□ A maximum of two (2) original, two-dimensional artworks may be entered per artist in the
competition. Limited edition prints will not be accepted.
□ A separate entry form is required for each artwork.
□ The artwork must be no larger in size than 1m x 1m.
□ The entry must be framed or mounted so as to be hung.
□ The artwork must have "D" rings and wire attached 1/3 from the top of the frame.
□ Works in the art section only may be offered for sale. A commission of 20% applies.
□ A label in the following format must be attached to the lower back right hand side of each artwork.
A separate label is to be attached to each artwork.

The entry form is to be received no later than 31 December 2014 at Latrobe Council, 170 Gilbert Street,
Latrobe, 7307 or lodged before this deadline.
A $10 entry fee per artwork applies and must accompany the entry form.
If return postage is required, sufficient postage is to be added to your entry fee.
Cheques or money orders are to be made payable to Latrobe Council.
Entries are to be posted to P O Box 63, Latrobe, Tas, 7307 or made at 170 Gilbert Street, Latrobe.
Latrobe Council and its assigns accept no responsibility for any late, lost or misdirected entries.
A separate entry form is required to be completed for each artwork entered.
DELIVERY OF ENTRIES
The artwork/s is/are to be DELIVERED to the Australian Axeman’s Hall of Fame, Bell’s Parade, Latrobe
on Sunday, 18 January, 2015 between 3.30 pm and 4.00 pm.
Artworks can be delivered prior to this time SUBJECT TO AGREEMENT by the exhibition coordinator, Mrs
Michelle Dutton by phoning 0400 578 746 NOT the Australian Axemans Hall of Fame personnel.

CARE AND INSURANCE
The coordinators and their agents will exercise reasonable care of artworks entered in the Latrobe Art and
Photographic Exhibition but will not accept responsibility for loss or damage while artworks are in their
keeping.
Artists are encouraged to take out insurance for the duration of this event.
COPYRIGHT
By entering this competition, you grant to Latrobe Council or its assigns a worldwide, irrevocable licence
to use the image for competition display, exhibition, promotion and later publication either printed or
electronic, acknowledging that in doing so Latrobe Council will recognise the artist as the copyright
owner. This usage is non-exclusive and royalty free.
First Prize in the Art Award is an acquisition prize. The artwork and associated copyright in its entirety is
to be transferred by the winner of this award to Latrobe Council without the payment of any further fee.
JUDGING
Judging is based on interpretation of the theme, originality, composition, technical skill and the wow
factor.
The judges' decision is final and binding on every entrant with no correspondence entered into.
COLLECTION OF ENTRIES
Unsold artworks are to be COLLECTED from the Australian Axemans Hall of Fame on Saturday, 31
January, 2015 no earlier than 4.00 pm and no later than 4.30 pm.
Artworks not collected within this timeframe will be available from the Latrobe Council office from
8.00 am until 4.30 pm Monday-Friday.
Where an authorised representative is collecting the artwork, an appropriate authority must be presented
which includes both the artist's signature and that of the person collecting the artwork.
