2015 GPL 8vs8 Rules Format of Competition The 2015 8v8 competition shall consist of seven rounds of regular season play for each team followed by a two week playoff in which matches are determined by teams' records during the first seven rounds of competition. Duration of Matches Matches for 2015 8v8 competition shall consist of two 35-minute halves. Matches Ending in a Tie All matches except for the Playoff matches in the 2015 8v8 competition that are tied at the end of regulation shall be recorded as a tie. If the teams in the playoff matches are tied at the end of regulation, then the teams shall proceed directly to a penalty-kick shootout to determine the champion. General Rules of Play When the ball goes out of bounds play will be restarted with a throw-in, goal kick, or corner kick. All re-starts are indirect except for penalty kicks. Penalty kicks shall be taken from a distance of 8 yards, or 8 paces, from the goal line as determined by the match referee. There are no off-sides in the 2015 8v8 competition. Goalkeepers may score by throwing or kicking the ball directly into their opponents’ goal provided the goalkeepers are not scoring directly from a re-start such as a goal kick. No slide-tackling except for the goalkeepers. Determination of Champions The top 4 teams at the end of the regular season will have a chance to compete in playoffs for the championship match. Playoff rankings will be determined according to the following criteria, listed in order of precedence: o Most points (from wins or ties) after seven rounds of competition o Head-to-head results in the competition o Goal scoring differential (goals for minus goals against) in the competition o Most goals scored in the competition Player Conduct Players are to conduct themselves in a way that demonstrates respect for themselves and for others as they compete in the league. Cursing and derogatory or vulgar language shall not be tolerated. Physical violence or assaults of any kind shall not be tolerated. Complaints and decisions regarding player conduct shall be dealt with by consultation among team organizers, league administrator, the league referees as necessary. The referees decisions are final. Final decisions regarding any extraordinary disciplinary action shall be determined by the universally accepted standards and disciplinary procedures of the game. Player Discipline A player receiving a direct red card shall be suspended a minimum of one week of matches following the match in which the red card was issued. A player receiving yellow cards in three consecutive matches shall be suspended for the next consecutive week of matches. Player Eligibility To play in the Greenville Premier League, a player must be registered with the league and added to a team roster. Players must sign a Kroc Center waiver and pay a player pass fee of $20 in order to be properly registered. A player is only eligible to compete on a team if he is listed on that team’s roster. Use of Ineligible Players/Forfeits Any team that uses an ineligible player (a player not properly registered on the team’s roster) in a match is subject to forfeit that match by a score of 0-3. Team Rosters The designated team coach/captain can add players to his roster by contacting the league administrator and ensuring that player payment has been made as applicable. Players must sign appropriate waivers before playing in any league matches. There is no limit to the number of players each team may have on its team roster. Players can only be listed on one team roster. Rule Changes/Modifications League rules are subject to change at the discretion of the league administrator in consultation with team coaches/captains.
