financial services to low-income women in the U.S. Grameen America is built upon the success of the Grameen
Bank in Bangladesh and its founder Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who were jointly awarded the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize
for their pioneering work alleviating poverty and establishing economic rights as a human right.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Grameen America seeks an experienced and dynamic fundraising professional who will be responsible to manage
and expand our Major Gifts portfolio, with the goal of increasing donations and providing stewardship and
engagement opportunities for current and potential donors. This individual will support our Chief Executive Officer
and Senior Vice President in cultivating and soliciting gifts from high net-worth individuals. The Major Gifts Officer
will be a crucial member of the Grameen America Development Team.
The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial professional who enjoys building a major gifts department,
developing and managing the implementation of cultivation and solicitation strategies, and being part of a
growing fundraising team. S/he will be an innovative thinker and resourceful fundraiser, with a passion and
commitment to Grameen America’s mission to transform the lives of women and families living in poverty in the
United States through entrepreneurship, training and support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with Senior Vice President and CEO/President to identify, cultivate and solicit major gift
prospects. This will include working with existing donors as well as initiating new relationships with
prospects with high capacity.

Strengthen the commitment of current donors through individual meetings, site visits, phone calls, office
visits, special mailings and other relationship-building correspondence and activities.

Create compelling engagement opportunities and tailor them to meet donors’ needs and expectations.

Creatively draw on research, experience, and President/CEO and Board relationships to make connections
and secure meetings with prospective donors.

Collaborate with research professionals utilizing research to develop cultivation and solicitation strategies.

Prepare strategy, briefing, and debriefing materials for meetings with donors and prospects.

Work with development, communications and finance staff to develop compelling and highly personalized
and substantive correspondence, proposals, and other written materials.

Plan/Manage four to six prospecting and stewardship events and gatherings annually.

Track and maintain concise, timely and accurate data of major donors and prospects in Salesforce.

Manage special projects as assigned by the Senior Vice President.
QUALIFICATIONS
 Bachelor’s degree.
 Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Major Gifts role. Proven track record of developing and implementing
strategies for growth, managing relationships and closing gifts.
 Strong networker with excellent leadership, presentation and communication skills.
 Outstanding team contributor in a multi-cultural environment.
 Strong written skills, with proven ability to develop compelling case for support, including effective letters,
proposals, reports and appeals.
 Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
 Flexible and open to new approaches and/or changes in priorities.
