LATE FRENCH IMMERSION
PROGRAM - CENTRAL MIDDLE
Central Middle School has a Late French
Immersion Program for students entering
Grade 6 next school year. At the present
time, CMS is accepting registrations from
parents who would like to have their
children in our Late French Immersion
program for the 2015-2016 school year.
This program is geared for students who
have little or no French experience and
who:
- are interested in learning French;
- are looking for a challenge and are
motivated to learn;
- have strong basic skills and are
working at grade level.
THINK SOCIAL - Mattie McCullough
School
Think Social begins next month at Mattie McCullough
Elementary School. If your child struggles to make friends,
carry on a conversation with others, interpret social cues and
body language, Think Social will help provide them with the
social skills needed to form positive social relationships.
Think Social 7-9 begins on Wednesday, April 8th and Think
Social 10-12 begins on Wednesday, April 14th. Registration
is limited, call the Learning Disabilities Association of
Alberta-Red Deer at 403-340-3885 for more information or

Swimming - April 8 - May 13,
2014
Grandview students, grades 2 to 5, participate in
a swimming skill development program as part
of the physical education curriculum. Swimming
will take place on Wednesdays, beginning April
8 and continue to May 13, 2015.
We thank all those parents who have paid their
swim fees for this year and encourage those who
have outstanding fees to submit the $20.00 per
child payment as soon as possible. Please note
that this is a subsidized fee. Grandview School
covers a portion of the cost and pays all the
transportation costs.

SPELL-A-THON
Grandview is holding our annual
Spell-a-thon from Monday, March 23 to
April 21, 2015. On Thursday, April 16,
students will write their spelling words in the
their classrooms.
Pledge envelopes and pledges collected are to
be returned to the school office by April 21,
2015.
Money raised by the students will be used to
support student activities and special events,
e.g. field trips, guest presenters, swimming
lessons
This year's Spella-thon prize incentive
program is as follows:
1.
Lunch for the class that raises the most
$$ per student.
2.
Every class - draw made for a $25.00
Gift Card to Collicutt. To be eligible,
student must raise a minimum of $40.00
and have 80% of their words correct.
3.
K-2; 3-5 - draw made for ONE
CHROMEBOOK. To be eligible,
student must raise a minimum of $80 or
more and have 80% or more of their
words correct.
4.
School-wide Incentives...

whole school raising $3,000.00 30 minutes of extra recess in May

Whole school raising $6,500 - Hat Day
every FRIDAY for the month of May

Whole school raising $10,000 - a ‘special
live performance’ and a ‘wild life act’
“100” Club – students who get 100% on their
spelling test and/or raise over $100 get a
$5.00 gift card from Booster Juice AND a
chance to send selected staff members to
plunging into a Dunk Tank!
