STUDENT PLANNER
FOOD ALLERGIES AT GRANDVIEW
PEANUT AND OTHER NUT ALLERGIES!
All students in Grades 1 to 6 will be given a planner to
help them keep their schoolwork organized.
At Grandview School we have students with
severe peanut and nut allergies.
Because this is a life-threatening situation
for these children, we are asking all
parents/guardians to refrain from sending
children to school with peanut butter
sandwiches, bags of peanuts, and any other
nut products.
We realize this can be an inconvenience for
some families; however, where the safety of
any child is concerned, we ask for your
understanding and co-operation. Thank you
for your assistance with this very serious
health risk.
*Please read the first 7 pages of the Planner as
these contain essential information for parents.
*Please check and sign your child’s student planner
every day for important messages and information.
Each teacher will take time to ensure students write the
necessary information in their planner regarding
homework, upcoming events, things to bring from home,
to enclose newsletters, flyers, etc. Each student will
receive a planner at no charge thanks to School Council
fundraising, which has provided the funds to defray the
cost of the planner. We ask that students take care of
their planner.
Should a planner become lost or
destroyed, students will be asked to pay $4.00 for a
replacement planner.
TIGER’S EYE VIEW
Grandview’s school mascot is a Tiger and students
are known as Grandview Tigers! At Grandview we
showcase our G-r-r-e-a-t Grandview Tigers by
giving each child an opportunity to share a little bit
about themselves with the rest of the school. This
program is to build self esteem and to promote a
strong sense of school community and spirit!
Each week one student per class will bring home a
TIGER’S EYE VIEW poster. We ask you to take a
few minutes to assist your child in preparing this
information sheet. Please return the completed poster
to your child’s teacher. Your child’s poster will then
be highlighted during morning announcements and
displayed with the rest of the Grandview students for
one week.
Be sure to visit the school to see your child’s special
poster displayed on our Tiger’s Eye View bulletin
board.
WATER AND HEALTHY SNACKS
We encourage our students to drink water
and fresh fruit and vegetables to assist
learning. Feel free to send these with your
child each day.
WE ARE A TRIBES SCHOOL
Students achieve because they:
 feel included and appreciated by
peers and teachers
 are respected for their different
abilities, cultures, gender, interests
and dreams
 are actively involved in their own
learning
 have positive expectations from
others that they will succeed.
"Tribes" is a step-by-step process to achieve
specific learning goals. Four agreements are
honored:




attentive listening
appreciation/no put downs
mutual respect, and
the right to pass
Students at Grandview


