Last year ended on a challenging note for many families, as the economy did not recover as quickly as some experts predicted. People are finding it more difficult to service their monthly obligations such as credit card payments and furniture loans. Others are yearning to take a well-deserved vacation in warmer weather. I have great news for you. Your credit union (HCCU) is anxious to help you go through the New Year without the stress and anxieties caused by the above. We have many options to help you consolidate your debts and significantly lower your monthly payments. Some of our many options include Home Equity Loans, refinancing your auto loans on friendlier terms, and transferring balances from high interest rate credit cards to HCCU visa. We are excited to present you with the real benefits of your credit union membership and urge you to share the good news with neighbors, friends, and family members. Recently, one of our members confessed that she did not approach us to finance her car loan because she did not believe we could do better that the dealer. It turned out that our advertised rates were already lower than the dealers’, and she would have avoided significant amounts of hidden fees. Our team stands ready to help you lessen your financial burdens. We are committed to our mantra “People helping people”. Please call or come in to meet with us today. Yours truly, Everton W. Neil, MBA Teller Barbara Martin, Teller Ole Brandsgaard, Teller Zaquoya Rogers, Teller Eta Arrey, Accountant Annual Meeting February 7th We invite all members to our annual general meeting February 7th, 2015. We will meet at 1 p.m. Center Middle School Cafeteria 326 E 103rd St for lunch, updates, reports, elections, door prizes and renewing our acquaintance with each other. We look forward to seeing you! Scholarships Available! As you may know, Heartland began as a credit union for teachers, staff and students of Center School District. We remain interested in the promotion of education. As part of our community outreach, each spring Heartland awards two $500 scholarships to high school seniors or college students, in honor of two well-loved former staff members at Heartland. If you or your student would like to apply for either the Dan Creasy Scholarship or the Ken Angell Scholarship, please contact us and we will see that you get the application. The deadline for application is March 31st. Each will be reviewed by our board members, and the awards will be presented to recipients in early May. Dormant Account? Just a reminder that accounts that have a minimal balance and have had no transactions for three years and that do not have a checking account or Visa card or loan or other service may begin to accrue a dormant account fee in January. You should have already received a notice if this applies to your account. We encourage all members to use their accounts and benefit from our many services. A small deposit or transfer or addition of a service will make the account active again and avoid the fee.
