The FMS Community Garden Market, in partnership with Community

The FMS Community Garden Market, in partnership with Community Food Collaborative,
is now accepting applications for our new 2015 CSA program!!
The FMS Community Garden Market is located at Fairfield Middle School in Richmond’s east
end and is a place-based, service learning initiative where students, faculty, and community
partners are working collaboratively through youth development and urban agriculture to
address gaps in health, wellness, nutritional access, and student achievement.
What is CSA?
CSA is Community Supported Agriculture. It’s an investment that you, the community member,
makes to support your local farmer by purchasing in advance a share of naturally grown
produce that is harvested fresh, just for you, every week.
By purchasing a weekly share from the FMS Garden Market, you are supporting a new
generation of urban agriculture entrepreneurs and helping us cultivate applicable skills in
teamwork, leadership, financial literacy, and critical problem-solving while reinforcing academic
concepts and promoting student empowerment through our ¼ acre garden and weekly studentrun farm stand. You are also ensuring that we can continue to provide our students, their
families, and the local community with access to fresh, healthy, and affordable food in their own
neighborhood!
How does our CSA work?
You have the option of purchasing a full, 20 week share for $500 (May 19th - Sept. 29th) or a 10
week ½ share for $300 (June 16th - Aug. 18th). Each share will have one “flex week” that may
be added at the end of your membership period just in case you miss a week due to vacation,
emergency, etc. If you are unable to pick up your share and have already claimed your “flex
week”, that week’s share will be donated to a local family in need. As an added bonus, all CSA
members also receive an additional 10% off all market purchases throughout the growing
season and special discounts on community workshops!
*All share purchases are non-refundable and shares must be paid in full by May 1st, 2015.
Each week our team of FMS student garden market interns will harvest a bounty of fresh
vegetables, fruits, herbs, and cut flowers that they have grown naturally in our school market
garden, without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Each weekly share will include a
variety of 8-12 different items with a guaranteed minimum market value of $25.
