April 5, 2015: Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of
the Lord
Christ is risen, truly risen! On this, the central feast day
of the Church, we come dressed in Easter finery, filled
with the hope of new life. As we proclaim God’s word,
renew our baptismal promises, and join together in the
great Eucharistic feast, let us be inspired to go forth into
our lives proclaiming the marvelous deeds that God has
done for us.

with CRS Rice Bowl ends in our own hearts, where Jesus
reigns forever. Let us rejoice in our risen Lord—and in
the lives we’ve changed this Lent in Tanzania, Nicaragua, Niger, Lebanon, the Democratic Republic of Congo
and all over the world! Don’t forget to turn in your CRS

Children who were scheduled to be aborted are alive
today ... because over these past 40 days, God blessed
your prayers and peaceful vigil. In fact, we know
of ...402 babies saved from abortion during this 40 Days
for Life campaign! Thank you for being that witness of
hope in a culture of death! This campaign showed how
brightly light can shine when it is courageously brought
into the darkness.
Thank you to all who donated items to the RAIS Programs and Catholic Social Services. For the month of
March, Holy Cross donated about $672.50.
Reflection: Imagine if our Easter hymns were drawn only
from today’s Gospel…”It is still dark.” “We don’t know where
Jesus is.” “We do not yet understand.” “What does it mean to
rise from the dead?” These would be seemingly sad songs. And
yet…To have faith in the resurrection is to believe that light
emerges from darkness. Always. Alleluia.
To admit we don’t know and understand everything—that we
really know very little in the Grand scheme of things—is to
acknowledge our dependence on God and each other. Alleluia.
Alleluia.
To raise the question about what it means that Christ rose from
the dead is to let Christ begin the work of resurrection in us.
Alleluia for the work of resurrection too. It takes our hands and
feet, our hearts and minds and souls to dispel the darkness of
the world.
We know where to find the risen Christ. He is present in the
refugees fleeing from countries ravaged by war, in the soldiers
and humanitarians who go to the ends of the earth to recue
them, in those who support these relief efforts financially.
Through Catholic Relief Services and the World Food Program, through local bereavement and befriended programs
through individual acts of generosity and forgiveness and compassion and gentle humor—through all these things we are an
easter in us, be a dayspring to the dimness of us.”
By the Lord has this been done and will continue to
be done. It is wonderful in our eyes. Alleluia. Christ
is risen. Christ is truly risen.
