Date: 3/16/15 Vacancy Announcement Dayton Public Schools has a vacancy for a Lead Mechanic in the Transportation Department. This is a 26 pay, 2nd shift 8 hour per day promotional position reporting to the Supervisor over the Transportation garage. RANGE OF PAY: $15.38-­‐24.04 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive): •

Identifies the needs of the Transportation garage and leads the vehicle Mechanics in daily operations. Possesses good oral and written communication skills, and maintains accurate records. Maintains the physical ability to climb, stand, lift, and bend for extended periods of time. Possesses the ability to repair vehicle electrical components/equipment, and fuel injectors and pumps; rebuild engines, electrical systems, air and hydraulic brake systems; rebuild front and rear suspension; and replace all drive train components. Performs other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director or garage Supervisor. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: •

High School Diploma or G.E.D. Must have at least six (6) years of experience in school bus maintenance work including diesel and gas engine management systems; anti-­‐lock brake systems; emission control systems; and engine diagnostic equipment. Must have and maintain an Ohio Commercial Driver's license Class A with school passenger endorsement. Must be able to successfully pass an annual physical examination required by the Ohio Department of Transportation.
