* Dylan Benit * * I have been pursuing my goal to become a pilot ever sense I could remember * Enlisted into the Army National Guard as a 15T UH-60A/L BlackHawk Crewchief * I will Commission as a 2LT into the U.S. Army where I will attend flight school the summer of FY15 * Joined the Army National Guard in April of 2011 Went to basic training and AIT throughout 2011 Joined WMU ROTC in spring semester of 2012 Contracted with WMU ROTC in April of 2012 Became an SMP Cadet in April of 2012 Attended LDAC in the summer of 2014 Will Commission May 1, 2015 as a 2LT Attend flight school summer of 2015 * * • Two high-performance turboshaft engines and maximum cruise speed of 284 kph • Laser, infrared, and other systems (including target acquisition designation sight/pilot night vision sensor) to locate, track, and attack targets • A combination of laser-guided precision Hellfire missiles, 70mm rockets, and a 30mm automatic cannon with up to 1,200 high-explosive, dual-purpose ammunition rounds • Testing in the late 1990s, delivery in 1997, in production for the U.S. Army and several international customers • Selection by the U.S. Army, Egypt, Greece, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Republic of Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and United Kingdom (as the AH Mk1) • Ability to assimilate advancements in digital connectivity, sensors, weapon systems, advanced training devices, and maintenance support systems * • Built May 1, 1942 • U.S. Army post located mostly in Dale County, Alabama • Primary flight training base for Army Aviation and is home to the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence • Warrant Officer Candidate school and Warrant Officer Career College are located in Fort Rucker • Open to the Public * Flight school is approximately 18-24 months long First attend ABOLC (Aviation Basic Officer Leader Course) Then DUNKER School SERE (Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape School) Initial Entry Rotary Wing School Basic Warfighter School Advanced Airframe skills training Graduation! * • You find out your duty station about half way through flight school • You will then be a platoon leader in charge of 48 Soldiers • Will either be in a flight, support, or maintenance Company • Typically serve at a duty station for 3 years * Company and Field Grade Officers • 2 years • Platoon Leader 2LT 1LT • 2 yers • Company Executive Officer • 4 Years • Company Commander CPT MAJ • 4+ Years • Battalion Executive Officer • 4+ Years • Battalion Commander LTC COL • Brigade Commander
