How do I become a volunteer for the Homer’s Backyard Ball Foundation?
 Fill out a volunteer application, COMPLETELY
 Attend one of the volunteer training sessions (Shrine Center – April 21 6:00 pm and May 2 10 am
o Elks Lodge – April 8, 5:45 pm; April 16, 6:30 pm; April 30, 6:00 pm)
 Pay your $25 volunteer fee
 Depending on area of volunteer service you signed up for, additional training may be need.
AREAS OF VOLUNTEERISM

Cook Off: Volunteers needed to help set up and tear down after event. Also needed to judge each
category of the cook-off. (No application needed, if judging only)

Merchandise: Help sell Homer’s merchandise to the public throughout the event.

Marketing (Website, Media, Vendors): Assist in placing Vendors in assigned location at the event. Host
media at event for interviews of Homer’s Board members.

Sponsor Alley: Work in the VIP area to serve the sponsors, clients, musicians and other VIP’s at event.
Help clean up tables following meals. Be sure glasses are filled when empty. Carry trash as needed.
Keep food trays filled. And any other activity that is assigned by chair.

Security: Provide protection for HBB and its supporters and guests during the event. Continue
moving throughout the event to be sure that there are no fights or brawls.

Site: Help set up the site of the event the week prior to the event. Be sure golf carts are not being
misused. Check trash barrels and empty as needed. Be sure port-a-potties are stocked throughout
the event with tp.

Parking/Camping: Direct traffic to parking spots in the parking area. Help “move” guests to the front
gate on trailers during the event. Help get campers in their assigned location prior to the event.

Front Gate: Help sell tickets and/or take tickets and wrist band guests at the front or back gate. Check
ID’s for minors and be sure that no glass bottles are brought into the event.

Volunteer Coordination: Check in volunteers, hand out volunteer shirts and direct them to their
assigned work location.

Public feed: Help prepare and/or serve the public. Set up, cleanup, cook and serve to the general
public. Must follow Health Dept guidelines.
Volunteers may work in more than one area during the event.
Assignments are made according to receipt of application and number of volunteers needed.
