ServiceWorks – powered by the AmeriCorps, the Citi Foundation and Points of Light – is a groundbreaking, national program that uses volunteer service as a strategy to help 25,000 low‐income youth and young adults in 10 cities develop the skills they need to prepare for college and careers. The program, which will deploy 225 AmeriCorps members over three years, will engage young adults, age 16‐24, in service and build a large‐scale volunteer response to the crisis of low college and career attainment. Position Summary: Points of Light, in collaboration with Jersey Cares, seeks to support the ServiceWorks program at the ground level. The ServiceWorks Fellow will partner with current AmeriCorps VISTAs at Jersey Cares to develop a service leadership and employability training program providing professional development, networking, and project management skills, and ultimately increasing employability for young adults (16‐24 years of age) participating in the program. Fellows will engage volunteers to support training provision, mentorship and long‐term program sustainability. This position reports to Thomas Dougherty, Director of Volunteer Programs at Jersey Cares. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: ServiceWorks Programming (30%)  Facilitate group workshops/classes focused on youth service programming curriculum.  Integrate efforts with local workforce development and leadership development programs.  Train volunteers and volunteer leaders to provide training and workshops to young adults.  Support current VISTAs on work with an existing advisory council consisting of service beneficiaries to guide the program’s approach, outreach efforts, and supplemental programs. Community Outreach, Including Volunteer and Client Recruitment (30%)  Engage with the local non‐profits to partner in volunteer recruitment.  Conduct recruitment efforts in the community to engage young adults and volunteer to participate in the program.  Develop or utilize existing tracking systems to maintain volunteer and client information. Sustainability, Reporting, and Storytelling (30%)  Provide ongoing support to young adults, particularly on service projects.  Equip local volunteers and staff to lead program beyond duration of VISTA placement.  Assess and track relevant data – outputs and outcomes  Submit monthly output report, great stories, and quarterly reports to Points of Light  Engage in National Days of Service including MLK Day of Service and National AmeriCorps Week. Administrative Support (10%)  Coordinate with the Points of Light Marketing and Communications team and other internal and external stakeholders to develop enhanced recognition opportunities for award recipients at events and in the media • Contribute expertise and ideas for special projects and custom recognition programs as needed Time Commitment: 20‐30 hours/week
