FLORENCE, AN OPEN-AIR MUSEUM
Being in Florence is like stepping into a picture
of Leonardo da Vinci or Michelangelo’s fresco
and experience a deep emotion. Every stone, every
bridge, every building tells a story. The Renaissance
was born here, and then spread around Europe,
but the city experienced many other important
epochs. For four centuries it was a milestone of the
Grand Tour among intellectuals and young people
from across Europe, and it was the Kingdom of Italy
capital from 1865 to 1871. Hotel Bernini Palace
met parliamentarians, statesmen and generals in its
historic 15th century location. The past is still alive in
the frescoed round ceiling of Parliament Room,
where nowadays breakfast is served for hotel guests.

When Florence was the capital of Italy, between 1865
and 1871, Parliament buffet was located at today’s
Hotel Bernini Palace: it was the perfect place to forge
alliances and establish relationships. That atmosphere
was evoked by Attilio Brilli in his “When Florence Became
Capital”. Each room at the hotel has a copy of this book.
