Dear Sponsor, We are asking you to partner with us, and hundreds of kids across Howard County and Catonsville, to support the YOUNG LIFE 5K FOR THE KIDS May 9th at 9:30 AM at Hopewell Park in Columbia, Maryland. This 5K and Fun Run is a fund raising opportunity for our local Young Life ministry and we are asking you to help us cross the finish line strongly by sponsoring the race for $150, $250 or “above and beyond”. Young Life is a 73 year old, world-‐wide Christian ministry that brings the good news of Jesus Christ into the lives of adolescents with an approach that is respectful of who kids are and hopeful about who they can be. Young Life in Howard County and Catonsville has been reaching out to kids locally for over 40 years…walking alongside teens, building relationships and sharing God’s love with them. We have an outreach to middle school kids called WyldLife. Young Life also reaches into the disability community with our Capernaum ministry. This is a unique way to provide opportunities for disabled teens to participate in a wide range of activities and a yearly camp. Young Life is not just a program; it starts with adults and the power of their presence in the lives of today’s teens. And these relationships aren’t built overnight, but over time through the consistent caring, mentoring, love, support AND a whole lot of FUN! Year after year, week after week our volunteer leaders arrive at the local high school game, stop by a teen’s workplace, lead them in skits, songs and fun games at “Club” each week and listen, love and share their hearts! The process, though it seems simple makes a huge impact. Every year bus loads of students return from a week-‐end or week long YL camp with a new heart for Christ or a renewed passion to follow Him. At every weekly club meeting students hear about God’s great love for each of us. And while we are proud of the dozens of volunteers that give their time to our kids each week, there are costs to keep the ministry running and to provide training, leadership and support for our volunteers and the kids they serve. The 5K FOR THE KIDS is has been a great success in the past and we look forward to your support to help us reach more students. Young Life is a tax-‐exempt, non-‐profit, 501 (c) (3) organization. Your donations to Young Life are tax deductible. All sponsors of the YOUNG LIFE 5K FOR THE KIDS will have their company name printed on the race tee shirts which are sure to be proudly worn throughout Howard County and Catonsville by race participants. We expect close to 100 participants this year! Major Sponsors will be more prominently displayed on the tees and other race promotional items.
