No visitors will be accepted to school on Monday, March 30th and Wednesday April 1st
due to STAAR EOC assessments.
STAAR EOC
English I and English II assessments will be administered on March 31st and April
1strelatively. Test will start at 8am. Students will have 5 hours to complete the test, excluding the
lunch time. Several things you can do to help ensure a successful testing experience is that your
student arrives on time, fully rested and prepared to test. It is also important to make sure your
child eats a good dinner the night before, if not a good breakfast the morning of testing.
Similarly, encouraging your student to do his or her personal best can greatly improve selfconfidence levels leading to better performance.
Students will not be allowed to access their lockers on the floor where the testing rooms are.
They will be asked in the morning to take all the materials for all blocks from their locker.
Students can access their locker with the last bell at 3:30pm.
Lunch time will stay the same on Monday however, it will change on Wednesday. While testing
sophomores will go to 1st lunch, freshmen and non-testing sophomores will go to last lunch.

AP Exam payments:
If a student does not take the AP Exam, the credit earned for the satisfactory completion of the
course will not be weighted on GPA calculations.
All payments are due March 25, 2015. Payment will still be accepted by March 27th4:30pm.
Exams will be ordered on March 27th 5pm. After Friday, no test will be ordered for the students
who didn’t pay and the above policy will automatically apply. Contact Mrs. Maldar at

SAT School for juniors
The SAT will be offered to juniors during the REGULAR SCHOOL DAY on Wednesday April
15th. Registration will take place during SAT Prep class and will be completed by April 1st.
Students not registered by April 1st must contact SAT campus coordinator Mrs. Aydin.

Bio FORCE is a hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
summer program of the National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing that allows high school
students to learn about cutting-edge research, medical discoveries, and bio manufacturing. Bio
FORCE prepares students for college programs in engineering and science, and ultimately, to
pursue a career in the biotech or pharmaceutical industries. Through grant funding, Bio FORCE
is able to provide scholarships to Texas 9th, 10th and 11th grade students so they can participate
in one of three, 5-day, 4-night residential summer academies.

Bio FORCE III - "My Role in the Future of Medicine": The third and final academy for returning
cohorts (students who participated in previous Bio FORCE academies) and selected new
students. Applicants must be currently enrolled in the 11th grade, and must complete the 11th

Odyssey of the mind won 1st place at Regionals & they are moving on to State.
Congratulations to the Hawks very own Andrew J. who has advanced to Finalist standing in the
National Merit Scholarship Program of 2015 by demonstrating through distinguished
performance high potential for future academic accomplishment.
The Science and Engineering Fair of Houston 2015 was held on February 28th ,Saturday. There
were over 1,000 participants and more than 50 categories in Junior, Ninth, and Senior Divisions.
Sueda C. placed 1st in Mathematics with her project "Vascular Geometry in Tumors" and
advanced to compete in the state wide Exxon Mobil Science & Engineering Fair in March.

On behalf of President Barack Obama, the Presidents Volunteer Service Award goes to
Aishwarya R. This award recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant
amount of their time to serve their communities and their country. HS Advancement is very

Congratulations Muaaz A. Qualified for National Debate Tournament to participate at the
University of Kentucky in April.
Robotics TEAM
On Saturday February 21, 2015 six teams represented Harmony School of Advancement in
Houston FTC Regional Championship Tournament. All six teams made to the semifinals and
five of them made to the finals. In total they won seven trophies (Winning Alliance, Winning
Alliance, Winning Alliance, Finalist Alliance, Finalist Alliance, PTC Design Award, and
Motivate Award). Three teams (Mohawk Warriors Gold, Mohawk Warriors Orange, and
Mohawk Warriors Purple) are qualified to Super Regional
Science Olympiad
Our school Science Olympiad Team did a great job in the invitational competition last Saturday,
Jan. 17, at Langham Creek High School. Among 36 teams Lucinda B. and Brandon B. got 1st
place in the event of Air Trajectory, Adam L. and Muaaz A. got 1st place in the event of Green
Generation, Rohan B. and Muaaz A. got 2nd place in the event of Forensics, and Nina O. and
Mason C. got 2nd place in the event of Fermi Questions. Great job, Science Olympiad Team!

offers a one-of-a-kind experience for Texas high school

possibilities of a Science, Technology, Engineering and
Mathematics (STEM) related major or career.
BlueStamp Engineering is a summer program for high school
students to build projects that they are truly passionate about.
It is a 6 week program that runs four hours per day and
operates in San Francisco, NYC, Houston, and Denver. BSE
also invites guest speakers from various engineering fields
and start-up entrepreneurs to provide inspiration for a career
in technology.
Dual Credit enables a high school student to earn credit
towards high school graduation while simultaneously earning
college credit towards an associate's degree or workforce
program certificate. Dual Credit is approved and regulated by
the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
The UMHB College of Nursing will be offering a summer
camp that will provide upper level high school students the
opportunity to experience nursing school and college life at
UMHB. The summer program will include four facets:
academics, spirit and traditions of UMHB, faith and learning,
and campus life.
UTSA Engineering is offering its Engineering Summer Camp
to entering freshmen through graduating seniors. Students
who attend have the opportunity to experience engineering
through hands-on workshops, engaging academic lectures,
research lab tours, and friendly competitions.

The STEP Forward Camp is a one-week residential
engineering introduction program for rising 12th graders. The
program is limited to fifty students. Participants stay on the
University of Houston campus in a dormitory. UH
engineering students serve as camp mentors and counselors. •
The STEP Forward Camp curriculum includes: • An
introduction to the various disciplines of engineering ("What
do engineers do?") • Project-based learning (hands-on team
project competitions involving engineering design) • Site
visits to Houston-area engineering companies • Field trips •
Panel discussions by working engineers and current

The Young Scholars Program invites high school students
from throughout the U.S. and the world to an exceptional pre-
scholars/young-scholarsprogram
college experience at the University of Maryland. Rising high
school sophomores, juniors, and seniors with outstanding
ability and promise pursue academic interests, discover career
opportunities, and earn three university credits.
The National Space Club Scholars Project is a summer intern
experience for up to 30 high school students to work with
space scientists and engineers. The purpose of this project is
to provide students with an opportunity to experience how
research and development organizations operate on a day-today basis in direct support of NASA's mission to inspire the
next generation of explorers. Participants are assigned to work
with a technical professional in a field related to the student's
stated interests and expertise.

Sea Camp is a week-long residential adventure exploring the
wonders of the marine and estuarine environments for
juniors and seniors. The Program at Texas Tech University
helps the Scholars to have a hands-on practical research
experience with outstanding and experienced faculty. The
Scholars will receive a $750 tax-free stipend and room and
board. The Program includes fun activities, weekly seminars
and field trips. This Program provides opportunities for
