Second Sunday of Easter April 12 2015 HOLY T RINITY Vtà{ÉÄ|v V{âÜv{ 9150 Pflumm / Lenexa, Kansas 66215 Website: www.htlenexa.org / email: [email protected] We are a Catholic family who loves, grows and lives in faith through Jesus Christ 2 Holy Trinity Catholic Church Liturgy Happy Easter! Yes, we can continue to say Happy Easter today. While we conclude the octave of Easter we begin the 2nd week of the Easter season that lasts until Pentecost. It truly is a time of feasting. We hope that you had the best Lent ever and will continue with the best Easter season you’ve ever had. This particular Sunday, which used to be designated the 2nd Sunday of Easter on our liturgical calendar, since May 5, 2000, is now called Divine Mercy Sunday; promulgated by Pope John Paul II, now Saint John Paul II. Remember these words of Jesus from St. Faustina’s diary (for more information on St. Faustina and Divine Mercy, much can be obtained on the internet) “I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment." (699) "Souls perish in spite of My bitter Passion. I am giving them the last hope of salvation; that is, the Feast of My Mercy. If they will not adore My mercy, they will perish for all eternity...tell souls about this great mercy of Mine, because the awful day, the day of My justice, is near.” (965) Many of us do not spend enough time reflecting on our life, and what will happen, when our time on earth comes to an end. Trust in God’s bountiful mercy, turn to Jesus during this Easter Season and surrender your life to him. Jesus, I trust in You. Congratulations Baptism: * Grayson James DeCicco, son of Daniel and Jessica (Dreiling) DeCicco * Aydon Edward Gould, son of Mark and Lynn (Rodak) Gould Welcome to Our New Parishioners David De Gois Evangelos & Holly Brisimitzakis Weekly Faith Sharing We recommend that parish households set aside a specific time each week to pray, read the scriptures for the liturgy you celebrated this weekend, reflect and discuss the Scriptures using the question we offer as a starting point. As such, during inclement weather we may choose to cancel or delay the beginning of Mass. ♦ Weather radios are located in Liturgical Gathering Room and in the Gast Social Room Kitchen and will be monitored by our Ushers. • The goal is to stay ahead of incoming severe weather by utilizing the weather radios, mobile weather apps and active radar on the computer in the Priest’s Sacristy. IF SEVERE WEATHER IS FORECAST OR APPEARS IMMINENT BEFORE THE START OF MASS and in advance of weather sirens, the presiding priest may cancel mass and instruct Ushers to encourage parishioners and guests to exit the church, return to their vehicles and move to a place of safety. IF A STORM COMES UP SUDDENLY DURING MASS: According to Johnson County Emergency Management, parishioners and guests would be safest by remaining in the church during severe weather, rather than fleeing into the streets looking for alternative shelter. Parishioners would be instructed to take shelter beneath pews or in areas of the church AWAY FROM WINDOWS. Areas such as the Gast Social Room or Church Lobby are NOT recommended places of shelter due to the large amount of glass which surrounds those rooms. Parishioners nor guests will not be stopped from leaving the church, if it is their desire. In case of emergency, call Stan Nill (Parish Life Director) at 913.486.4153 or Fr. Mike Koller at 913.449.9111 Your safety is our primary concern. We ask that parishioners use common sense with regard to the decisions being made concerning dangerous storms and mass attendance. If you believe that the weather could pose a threat to your safety and well-being, please stay home and be prepared to take shelter.
