Hughson Business Assistance Program Supports New Businesses
The City of Hughson is proud to welcome Magnolia Farmhouse Market, Shami’s Dog and Perks
Coffee Co. to our growing community! Over the past months, all three businesses have taken
advantage of Hughson’s Business Assistance Program and opened locations in Hughson. Each
establishment accessed funding through the City’s $30,000 program to help kick start their
business near the historic downtown. Hughson encourages existing and new business owners
to contact City Hall to learn more about this exciting program. The City of Hughson offers an
array of assistance in the form of business incentives, loans for façade improvements, office
space in the Hughson business incubation center (adjacent to City Hall) and supportive services
through the Stanislaus Business Alliance and Hughson Small Business Development Center
(SBDC).

Magnolia Farmhouse Market opened December 18th, 2014 but held their initial grand opening on
February 21st, 2015, which included a ribbon cutting ceremony. Located on 2331 Charles Street,
Magnolia Farmhouse Market opens Monday-Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday 10am-3pm, and
closed Sundays. Owner Mary Ruff offers Hughson and the surrounding area her fresh flowers
and plants, gifts, primitives, vintage décor and handmade artisan creations! Magnolia
Farmhouse Market is also very active on Facebook showcasing newly added items. For every
occasion, Magnolia Farmhouse Market is ready to serve your needs.

Shami’s Dog, located on 2224 Santa Fe Avenue, open from 10:30am-6:00 pm; hours will be
changing in the summer. You can view Shami’s Dog specials on their sign posted out front of
their location which include hot dogs, hot sandwiches, drinks and other traditional items. They
recently began serving ice cream and shakes just in time for the warmer weather. Owner, Shami
Youkhana will be joining Facebook in the near future for easier access of new menu items and
specials! Come visit Shami’s Dog for lunch or dinner at the notable location at the entrance of
the City.

Matt Venema
Perks Coffee Co. located off of 2400 Santa Fe Avenue, owned by Matt
Venema, opened their doors for business on March 2, 2015. A grand
opening celebration was held on May 3, 2015 with all proceeds being
donated towards the Ciara Circle of Hope fundraiser. The celebration
also included a car and truck show and fun family activities. Offering their quick service, with a
convenient walk up window and a drive through window and friendly baristas, Perks Coffee Co.
hours are Monday-Friday 6am-6pm, Saturday 7am-6pm and closed Sundays. Serving
customers with a large variety of coffees and Italian sodas to their newly added Panera Bagels
